As I recall, that monk burning himself led to the overthrow of South Vietnam's dictator, and the end of the repression.
I thought it'd be enough simply to make it illegal to inflict damage on yourself.
Yeah, so do I, but during one period in England's history, suicide attempts were a crime that usually led to capital punishment. Seriously...so putting them in prison might be what they want.
Their war is cultural. You can't stamp it out physically, that will only make them martyrs. To destroy a culture, you have to spit on its beliefs, remove any privacy the people have, wipe out all believers, and most of all, replace it with something. While I personally hate emos and I'd be glad to have their population reduced, I don't think Russia can win.
