I don't know how far the Drew Peterson story reaches, but it's "big" (read as: unreasonably continuing) news in the Chicago area. The short story is Drew Peterson was a cop married four times and seems to have abused one wife and has been accused of murdering two others. His most recent wife, Stacy (age 23) has been missing for a long time now and Drew has been implicated in her supposed murder.
So you're a young woman who lives in this area and has been hearing about this story for years now. How stupid do you have to be to get engaged to a man who is accused of killing two wives and beating a third? Not to mention I wouldn't be keen on being anyone's fifth wife. Are people in their 20's really that stupid? Sigh.
Quote:
Drew Peterson is getting married. The former Bolingbrook police officer is engaged to wed for the fifth time.
Peterson is still married to his fourth wife, Stacy, who has been missing since last year. Peterson has been named a suspect in her disappearance. He is also being investigated in the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.
Drew Peterson declined to talk to ABC7 on camera Wednesday afternoon. Once the camera was off, we asked whether he was engaged. He said "Maybe" and began chuckling. He wouldn't comment about the woman believed to be his fiancee. He would not comment about a wedding date. He would only say he didn't want to talk, because, in his words, he says the media has a way of ruining his life, and he doesn't want his life ruined right now.
It's pretty certain that he killed her. I still wonder about the legality of marrying someone when you are already married, even if the person you are married to is officially missing.
How are there people with so much media coverage get away with murder so many times when there are others who are innocently involved with the murder of their wife or family (meaning they called the cops when finding their loved ones dead at home) and go to jail for it!
Is it because he was a cop that he gets away with it? With how arrogant he acts and now another case with this man, he's clearly guilty. He's like the second OJ Simpson except White!
What…he's white and he's getting media attention on a few murders, is guilty of it and is getting away with it, laughing in our faces that's he's obviously guilty and is getting away with it!
That wasn't a racist statement. I think Ridley is trying to compare this to the OJ case, except this man happens to involve a white man instead.
More on topic: That woman is asking for trouble. I thought a lot of younger people often seemed unnaturally oblivious (not unlike myself sometimes), but that's just willful ignorance.
Some people just have abusive personalities; for whatever reason they like getting hurt or running silly risks. Some people throw themselves out of perfectly good aircraft, some people swim with sharks or cut themselves, and some get hitched to people who've probably murdered and beaten their wives before.
We look at people who get their thrills from skimming cliffs in gimpy spandex squirrel suits as somehow admirable but the minute someone gets their thrills from this they're wrong or stupid. And maybe they are, who am I to say. Still as I see we can be sure of one really stupid thing: not enjoying life. If you get off on this sort of thing then go for it.
