As a favor to all of us, please stop Pal-Kia, you're going to get this thread locked.

What do you guys think about spirituality as opposed to religiousness? For example, I have a friend who considers herself a religious person, despite the fact that she does not follow the christian or any other doctrine. She believes there is something out there, it's watching over her, and it helps her get through the day knowing it.

I have rather mixed feelings about this kind of thing. On one hand, I respect the fact that she acknowledges the nature of the church, and that she does not associate with it for any other reason than tradition. (She lives in Poland, where 99.8% of the population is Catholic.) She celebrates Christmas and Easter, as well as occasionally going to mass on Saturdayss. She says mass puts her in a calm, relaxed, clear state of mind.

On the other hand, I don't like the idea that she would need something like this to make her feel secure. One day when we were talking, she said that she was impressed with my bravery as a nonbeliever, the thought of death being the finality of her existence is too discomforting.

When I was doing my first post, Pal-Kia only had one himself but posted the second one afterwards.

Your Mod senses were correct (thanks for the help to get me to one post Mrfancypants)

Actually, I don't know but I think religion is just a derivative of spirituality. Spirituality is belief and religion is those beliefs condensed into a form for all to see and follow as they wish (that didn't sound quite right but yeah). One person could have their own religion which is called "kill everyone one on the planent"-ism just out of a belief that god is watching their actions and wants them to kill everyone on the planet because everyone is an infidel and will help them through this.

One religious thread is enough for this forum. You can continue your discussion here. And if you do please make sure that you don't insult other members with your choice of words (calling all creationists stupid is a no-no since we all know that creationists visit this forum).

Also, please don't doublepost, use the edit-button or your posts may be deleted my lazy moderators.

If you're new read the rules (especially the one about proper use of English).
