I just pretty much lol'd. Do these people understand that the word was designed to be offensive? Seriously these liberal MP's need to be kicked out of the government and such (those who are that strong and ingorant). It should be some national law that you should look into something before questioning it.

If I see a pack of teenage yobs dressed like they are out for a run and sort over glued wet hair I will call them Chavs, even if it does become racist. You aint going to stop me.

I could have sworn the article said that it was The Fabian Society think tank which made this 'suggestion'. I didn't even see it mention the government or any MPs...

Here in Austria we call the sort of people that you call chav Prolo, short for Prolet, a member of the proletarian class.
That doesn't mean you hate the working class when you say it.

I take it chavs have the option of not being chavs, but choose too because they want to, because it offers a culture they find desirable.

In response to your question it would seem they have a choice but it's more down the parents willingness to raise their children properly.

We don't, as far as I know, use the word here in Aussieland, but I think I can pick out the type. And as was said before, they choose to be "chavvy", so they can bloody well live with the consequences.

They are arseholes, they dont even talk proper, like.

Next thing they will start doing is causing trouble, then claiming they were the victims of "Chavists" or somet daft like that.

I mean Chavs as a "subculture" just seem to be about nothing but trouble, I know their were trouble causers years ago, but the rockers, mods, greasers, metalheads, punks and Skinheads actually seemed to do more than just always cause trouble and using knives was rare amongst them.

That definition is absolutely awesome. Love the way it's written.

Saw a few of them when I was over in Europe. They kind of scared me then I realised that the oldest one was about 16.

He was also wearing a pink sports jumper.

Well the common sterotype of a British teenager is he carries a knife and his extreamly violent. Break this down again and you'll find it's just a Chav who can't fight, therefore he resorts to using a weapon with his gang of 20.

I met a few Brits while staying in France.. they all came across rather nice. The girls were hawt (though had nothing on the Swedish, I mean DAMN!) and the guys were kind of snobbish. But they were all harmless.

The stereotype Id always held of British teenagers were weedy kids who wore glasses and lived in manor homes across the countryside.

Hehe, well I can't totally blame them. If somebody has never heard of the word and has been given a misguided background on the history and usage of the word they may not get it. They may fail to see it's meant as a swear worth. But I do hope they would draw their propper conclusions when explained what the word is all about (as it's meant to be offensive and offensive to über lower class morons who cause a lot of trouble in a neighboorhood. These people propbably thought the word was directed at all lower class people, in which case I would agree that it wouldn't be too nice.

Some of these fuckers arent even dirt poor anyway, some its lax parents, alot of chavs and their families had more than me growing up, they always managed to get sky dishes and a bigger car on the bloody drive, I dont know, maybe its because their dishonest.

Get alot of chavs where i live. South east london, its full of chavs, pikeys and they're all a pain in the arse. They can't fight to save there lives but they hang around in gangs of like 20. Watch something like Road Wars, or Street Wars on Sky One, majority of the problems the police come across is chavs and drunks, and the drunks are usually drunk chavs, just slightly older.

Chav - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In NZ, there's a rough equivalent to boyracers/wiggers, but nothing like the depth that chavs hold.

Are government are too afraid of something going wrong, the country is already in a bad light as it is they don't it to get any worse so serious precautions.


In related news a 12 year old tried to mug me today. Wasn't much of a bother seeing as he was one of those thin as a pole, white as the driven snow types with no muscle whatsover.
