02/19/2008 ORDER-SHOW CAUSE TO: JOHN BRUCE THOMPSON It appears to the Court that you have abused the legal system by submitting numerous frivolous and inappropriate filings in this Court.
Therefore, it is ordered that you shall show cause on or before March 5, 2008, why this Court should not find that you have abused the legal system process and impose upon you a sanction for abusing the legal system, including, but not limited to directing the Clerk of this Court to reject for filing any future pleadings, petitions, motions, letters, documents, or other filings submitted to this Court by you unless signed by a member of The Florida Bar other than yourself.

John Bruce “Jack” Thompson (born July 25, 1951) is an American attorney and activist, based in Coral Gables, Florida. Thompson, a Christian conservative and a Republican[1], is known for his public advocacy of conservative Christian moral standards.

After an initial foray into politics, Thompson concentrated his legal efforts against perceived obscenity, particularly in rap music and broadcasts by radio personality Howard Stern. More recently, he has focused on violence as well, particularly in the content of computer and video games and their alleged effects on children.[2] He is a vocal advocate of banning stylized violence in video games, a role for which he became known in 1997, while representing the parents of the three students killed in the Heath High School shooting.

His involvement with music, gaming and the media (and especially use of legal threats) have raised questions about First Amendment rights. The Florida Bar Association is currently seeking sanctions against Thompson for inappropriate conduct.

Jack Thompson is a self proclaimed "Game Expert" and routinely goes on such newsworthy (holding back my laughter on that one) channels as fox news and basically thinks all gamers are idiots, he's right and everyone is out to get him, literally.

he believes that all games which involve shooting (especially gta) cause people to start shootings. he ignores the fact that most of these people were actually insane to some degree before doing this. millions of people play games but only a small number kills. and they kill because of other things.

Thompson also claims that gta can be used as a simulator for such shootings. that claim is ridiculous because if you ever played gta, you'd know how "realistic" it is.

I could flood this thread with links of articles I've read in the past. I only came across them because he makes the headlines for being such a dullard and it eventually became amusing to listen to his unfounded 'facts' and fantastically fictional allegations against companies and players alike.

I mean seriously, he tried to subpoena the US President and his brother the Florida Governor to prove there was a conspiracy against him by the gaming industry and the Florida bar to try and prevent him from practicing law.
