why do westerners think so highly of themselves, when the western world has thugs walking streets, too much sordid sex, single mothers, homosexuals, people who value material things over life. |
China's better at some of these things (less of a divorce rate, I hear), equally bad at other, and worse at yet other. It's funny to hear you complain about the US's bums when Red China's such a nation of poverty.
As for homosexuality being an unnatural, evil degrading deed of Mortal Sin, let's see if your Beloved Leader blocks
this:D.
Quote:
why are you so proud of such degrading traits? |
Strawman. We aren't proud of homelessness, excess materialism, and other
problems of society.

No offence but I call this jelousy (sp?). |
The jealousy card is a too easy one to play, asks you me, and jealousy is obviously not the driving factor here.

i was never thrown out on street, killed or sent to orphanage, my parents love me, my father would get me everything i wanted when i was growing up |
Lucky you. Doesn't change the fact that it's reality for
other people, though.

So I assume your parents are fine with killing off their family name? China has a one child law for parents. If you don't have a boy then chinese parents do whatever they can to try and get a boy. I have seen plenty of adopted chinese girls, but not a single boy. |
All I can say is that I've got a six-year old cousin adopted from China. Guess the gender.

I am showing you that there is no equality before the law in china. In the US it does not matter whether you are a billionaire, politician or a bum on the street. If you break the law, you get punished for it. |
Actually, it matters to the extreme whether or not you're a billionaire or a bum living on the street. If I slap a low-class Hispanic kid living in the slums, nothing's going to happen to me, whereas if I slap a rich, spoiled ole white kid with a lawyer papa, I'm liable to get sued for "malicious assault".
Not to mention, of course, that if you're at the wrong place at the wrong time, you risk getting sent off to Guantánamo and tortured (Tipton Three) - with the torturers getting the active support of the neo-conservative voters.
Sorry to say so, but to say that everyone's equal in the States is a rather ridiculous statement.
Quote:
i am sorry, but most peopel here are happy and proud to be loyal workers and people who here who say it is bad and are ungreatful deserve to be beaten with baton in my opinion |
First of all, far from all people in China are "happy" and "proud to be loyal workers". Second off, dissent is a cornerstone of democracy.
How many people die in your coal mines each year? 3000? Do you think those workers in their dark, safety-devoid mines are "happy to be loyal workers"? Are they "ungrateful" if they want to not be sent into black mines where the participants face a higher death risk than the debaters in an average Creationism/Evolution Thread?
Quote:
what restrictions, i can look at information on internet freely, i enjoy reading your peoples lies |
Maybe you can. But try going down to an Internet Cafe behind the Great Firewall of China and search for "Free Tibet", and it's a different story. Better hightail it out of there, though, I wouldn't be surprised if the authorities trace your search.

I think my country has a lot of things wrong with it, but at least I am free to say so. |

WarHawk, you have your moments:smokin:.

We don't say that people who disagree with us should be beaten with a baton. You'll notice that in America you are free to say whatever you want about the government and you won't face any charges. I can find literally thousands of websites and newspapers and magazines that criticize the government. |
Well, there
are those of you who call the FBI when you hear someone criticize Bush, and there
are those of you who tell dissenters to move to Canada, but for the most part, that holds true. Heck, even anarchistic web sites go free in the States, Canada, and most of Europe.

Great. Another "my cuntry iz beter than ur cuntry" thread. Hello Melee, goodbye rational/intelligent discussion. This thread is about as important as this greasy shit I'm going to take... |
Right. Everyone

that was over 15 years ago, you bring up old news |
Is it old news? Is it irrelevant? If I go down to Tiananmen today and start a similar demonstration, will I be safe there or will the tanks rear their ugly heads once more? And more importantly, were the soldiers and their commanders ever brought to justice?
Quote:
they were starting a riot, why have sympathy?
|
They were
not starting a riot, they were carrying out a peaceful demonstration. And even if they
were rioting, don't you agree rolling in tanks and gunning down 400+ of them might qualify as "excessive force"?
Quote:
it is a duty, if the law states somebody is a criminal they must be showed justice

"Upholding the law" isn't always justifiable. The Nazi party were "just upholding the law" when they executed Sophie Scholl for spreading propaganda leaflets. The US authorities were "just upholding the law" when they arrested Rosa Park for refusing to get off her bus.
"Upholding the law" and "committing acts violating basic humans rights" are not always mutually exclusive.
