Just drop it :P Your talking to a damned(no pun intended) Ranger. You were never in that situation, that stuff keeping you all covered up will seriously weigh you down, and by far restrict movement ALOT. Yeah im a kid, but let me see you go out in BDUs with a pistol belt, canteen, and a 50 pound ruck sack, and tell me how easy it will be. Now, THESE guys cary ALOT more equipment varrying from 55-100 pounds plus the extra kevlar and plates??? They can do it yes, but they will not be combat effective..hell you will get more deaths from how much slower they will be to reacting to ANYTHING.

just because they would be slower doesn't mean much. if they are protected from the bullet then they can still fight yes? how would there be more casualties? have snipers on top of buildings for the bombers and shit.

100 pounds of armor protection, 100 pounds of gear, weapons, and ammo. Add to that 130 degree heat and you have a guy who is going to get blown up by an RPG or die of dehydration after 10 minutes of being in the sun.

There are still always blind spots. I take it you never heard of the Juba guy..(wellt he Islamic Sniper Brigade or whatever theyre called..) They always Aim for the blind spots in the armour because theyre always there. Unless you cover up the neck and joints, then theyre immobile.

And snipers cant do much against planted IEDs...well you can call in EOD but there isnt too much of them around since they keep being called up all over the country, and sometimes its still too late. Alot of the insurgents were NCOs and Officers in the Iraqi Army, they, although not trained as well as the US, still know how to kill.

And running is very important. And snipers take a while to train, and not everyone is elgible.

how so? that they are not eligible....everyone that can fire a gun and hit what they are aiming at 11 times out of 10, like me. but i don't want to be in the military so i'm not going to be.

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/armyt...iperschool.htm look at pre-reqs, that bogs down the candidates of Sniper school very seriously.

Re: Bush and his infinite wisdom...or so we're told

like i said why wouldn't people who can hit what they aim at 11 times out of 10 be eligible?

Because being a sniper is a lot more than just being a good shot. You have to have an outstanding psychological profile (in a good way), and be in peak physical condition. You must be incredibly patient as well.
