{Notice} New Pub Guidelines (all please read, updated March 08)

The Rules

1) Use English

Avoid using 'txt speech' and broken English consisting of u and ur, for example. This will:

1. Ensure you are taken seriously with the points you raise. Nobody wants to read the blatherings of someone who cannot be bothered to use correct English.
2. Make it easier for people to understand you. We are a multi-language, multi-cultural forum. Speak in plain English so that you can be understood.

In addition, please make use of paragraphs. Break up your posts into easily manageable sections. This means people might actually take the time to read what you have to say.

2) Do not flame, attack or demean other users.

You are welcome to disagree with the points raised by other forum members. That is, in essence, the purpose of this forum. However, we will not tolerate anyone attacking the beliefs or ideas or intellect of another member. Everybody has a right to use this forum. Treat others as you wish they would treat you.

3) Check your content.

We are here to discuss real life events and real life issues. This will naturally include some adult themes. Do not link to sites or host images which may be considered offensive or distasteful.

We welcome the posting of news articles which are brought forward in an effort to stimulate discussion, but we would appreciate it if the poster made at least a token effort to comment on the article they are putting forward. Posting a URL and 'thoughts?' is lazy and will lead to your thread being closed. Your opinion on what you want to discuss is mandatory.

Further to this, if you intend to bring forward something which you would find in a tabloid, please use General Discussion for your thread. Only post 'news worthy' topics here. Moderators reserve the right to move anything they deem to be unsuitable for discussion here to a more suitable forum.

4) Do not duplicate topics.

Please check to see if the issue/topic you wish to raise has been raised recently by someone else. In particular take note of the two threads relating to:

2. President George W. Bush - http://www.gamingforums.com/showthread.php?t=234989

It is always better to use an existing thread than to start another.

5) Listen to the staff.

The staff members placed in charge of this forum have been picked for their maturity and fairness. Do as they tell you. If they tell you to stop whatever it might be you are doing, please do so. I would prefer that the staff here did not bring anyone to my attention.

If you disagree with the decision of a staff member in this forum, bring your issue up with that staff member or one of the other moderators of The Pub in private.

Do not hesitate to send a PM to moderators if you have questions, suggestions or problems.

6) Do not 'back-seat' Moderate.

You are not staff here. Do not act like you are. Suggesting that threads should be closed, posts be deleted, or members banned will lead to the removal of your post. It is not your place to tell anyone how to run this forum.

7)Don't post about your reputation comments

Complaining about negative reputation you received for something you posted here is off-topic and should not be done. If you were insulted in a reputation-comment contact a supermoderator.

The Pub is N O T the melee! There's no excuse for not being civil . If you spot someone who acts less than mature and civilised here, you report it! No exceptions. You don't 'fight back' or defend your honour. The staff will deal with it, and if you don't think the staff moves fast enough, you contact them.

We have the option of removing access to specific forums, and if people can't can't find it in themselves to follow these rules, then they don't even have to see this forum.

There's no such thing as freedom of speech in this forum and not all oppinions are valid here. You can say what we allow you to say, and if you don't like that, this forum has a log-out feature that you have the freedom to use.

The Pub is a place for civilised discussion.

I hope this is clear now because I would hate to close this forum because people weren't mature enough to use it.

I noticed that in the last few days the quality of Pub-post has been constantly sinking. I don't mind a joke or two, but please try to stay mostly on topic, avoid Spam and don't post your negative opinions about other users here.
