Indeed. Guns are meant to shoot projectiles at high speed. Not their fault if a projectile just so happens to kill someone... They have just evolved into a weapon of mere killing, which is unfortunate.
A gun is designed to wound or kill the person, animal it is aimed at. (Or if you want "A gun is designed to shoot projectiles at high speed with the purpos to wound, damage or kill").
And yes "people kill people" and those who mean harm will always be able to do so, however a gun is a tool that uses ranged attacks and can kill with a single shot and thus makes it a LOT easier. If somebody points a knife at you you may still run away (yes unless it is a throwing knife) while you can't do so whn somebody points a gun at you.
A gun is a useful and effective tool if it is in the right hands, to asure a gun is used properly people should pass a strict course and pass a practical and theoretical exam in order to obtain a lisence (as I mentioned earlier I this thread) and ofcourse have no criminal history. Even so there are two major factors who will never make me into a gun hugging fan:
1) People make mistakes, they might fire too early or accidently. Some people might even willingly shoot when they haven't identified the target yet, example are people finding a person in there house and taking no risks and fire only later to find out it was a family member, friend or confused and disorientated stranger. Even if it is a burglar it is better to force him to surrender and (let somebody) call the police to arrest the burglar.
2) There is no guarantee that a law abiding citizen won't turn criminal in the future and use his/her gun for illegal purposes or actions.
This is why I prefer to see guns banned if possible (for the USA this is too late) simply because of point 1 and 2. If all guns in the legal circuit would never be used in an improper way I would have nothing or not much against legalizing guns. We don't live in an utopia however.
For the USA a far more strict system on guns (like Sweden but addepted to national circumstances) would be best option to go for, trying to keep the guns away from morons and inresponsible people but still allow them for those who do know how to use them (training, tests/exams and lisence required!).

Lol, if that statement is to be taken seriously I would pitty you. I can agree with banning guns (complete or restructing there us depending on which nation we are talking about) but if you think it is "evil" to at meat and to cut down trees you'r crazy. I do however respect vegatarians even whil I think it's natural and okay to at meat. Mind you that there is a difference between thinking it's "evil" and "not right".
Cutting down trees is something we have to do and I don't mind it aslong as it is done with a reason other then vandalism. However I am against cutting down large parts of the rainforest on a massive scale and I also opose those who do not grow new forests as a replacement. Cut down what you need and try not to harm nature any more then necessary.

I didnt say kill someone, i said to kill. With a gun do you defend yourself by throwing it at them or shooting (and maybe killing) them? The purpose of a car is for transportation, there is a distiction betweent the two. I also object to you calling me a moron and your assumptions on what views I hold over eating animals or deforestation.

No sorry, I was not saying that it was Agentlaidlaw that neg reped me, although it may of been. I dont know who neg reped me, or for what reason, the comment was "o_0" for the post I quoted. It was only -1 rep so it doesnt really make much of a difference, its just the principle of neg reping me without leaving a name or valid reason that annoys me.
