Default Global Warming...

on MARS!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------
edit: oh yea option 4 and 5 for you girly men...and manly girls:

4)It's all the Republicans fault...Especially Condi Rice. B/c she's black and conservative and wears kinky boots and bling bling, totes a pistol and dated Coolio once...and that is just a weird combination...just because of the conservative part. Freak.

5)Screw this girly talk. "Look at me, I'm Tap I eat Kix for breakfast because they're mother approved!" Pansy boy. Corned beef hash, potatoes, scrambled eggs, the blood of your enemies, and coffee is the breakfast of men. and champions - just mix the steriods in the coffee...and throw in some meatballs if you are a dirty I.T. like me because you're...uh...Italian. idiot.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I've seen articles in past that dispute whether global warming is actually being man made or if it is just naturally or if it even exists at all. So have most of you. Personally, I don't think global warming is all it's crocked up to be. Anyway, I was listening to the radio and they were talking about how scientists have discovered that Mars is undergoing drastic climate changes, much like a global warming effect. They also said that there have been a lot of violent earthquakes, er.. I mean marsquakes, lately [damn Bush. It's all his fault. Those rovers we sent up...]. Now, I know Mars and Earth are two different planets and you can't really compare them. That said, this does raise some interesting questions of how much of global warming is caused by man. We're not on Mars and it's happening there. So what you guys think about this? I wanted to find this on the net so you could read about it yourself, but I couldn't find any real recent sites but here's what I did find:
http://www.mos.org/cst/article/80/9.html
http://www.geotimes.org/feb02/NN_MarsCC.html
http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/mgs/msss/ca...rel/index.html

and this is a site explaining how we might want to induce global warming on Mars to make it habitable:
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast09feb_1.htm

Particularly interesting is this:
Quote:
If both Mars and Earth are experiencing global warming, then perhaps there is a larger phenomenon going on in the Solar System that is causing their global climates to change.
hmmm...hand me my monocle. I want to look rich while I ponder.

I still say we just nuke it to hell b/c we gotta nuke something...soon. and we gotta show them commies who's boss.

Well, we knows it's going to screw this planet up sooner or later... But Mars!!

I guess, sooner or later, were going to get to Mars, and if we end up living there, knowing humanity, they will probably screw that planet up also. Yet, how can anything be happening on Mars? There is nothing there except rocks...

Maybe it's those probes they sent over, their messing everything up!

This is funny. They have not observed temperature trends on mars long enough to conclude cheese. It is part of the ever changing martian climate. Untill we have studied global tempatures for hundreds of thousands of years on earth and mars global warming is little more than a theory. This could be a long term weather pattern on earth for all we know

Even on Mars (where there is fcuk all to warm the place up)? - all except the Sunspots from the sun! (that is all that is going to change the Temperature of Mars at the moment) - Unless Aliens have landed, just they got the wrong planet.

The problem with global warming: data is only based off the last century. There isn't any data detailed enough (day by day records of the temperature and weather conditions over most of the Earth) to be usable prior to the second industrial revolution, therefore there is no control data; data without the variable of industrial pollutants. A global increase in temperature could just be the continuation of a pattern that started after the end of the last ice age.
The credable part: we know that cars, industry, etc produces greenhouse gases, gasses that have been identified as being the heat trappers in the atmosphere of Earth, Venus, and yes, even Mars. There just isn't enough data to determine if the amont of greenhouse gases released has been significant enough to cause or accelerate a change in climate.
Nice find Tap.
edit: what the hell, the post jumped to the top of the thread again. This should be behind Ensign Rile's post

I have not seen definative proof for it though. We have only been watching it for 25 years and the earth's weather patterns are at lest 2 billion years old. You can't conclude something that go in cycles over very long time peroids(weather patterns) in a matter of 25 years.

And the temperature just happens to rise just when the human kind has started to pump out carbon dioxide in the atmosphere?

If you're saying what i think you are...

Space is cold, it doesn't matter if we pump everything out through the atmosphere and into space, it's not going to reach mars as there is first the distance, and then the fact that space is cold.

I don't give much for that article. You just can't compare Mars with Earth. It's like comparing an apple with a rock.

You obviously doesn't know how global warming works (no offence). The greenhouse gases (such as carbon dioxide, metan gas etc) stays in the atmosphere and are blocking the sunenergy to get out in the space again, thus make the climate warmer. This pic explain it fairly good:

The red thingy (not the arrows) symbolizes greenhouse gases. You could say that the greenhouse gases are like the glas windows in a greenhouse.
