You and your parents political views

I share the same political views as my parents, but what about you? :lookaround:

Re: You and your parents political views

My dad and I share the same views, he and I discuss politics sometimes. My mom really just doesnt care, which I find odd. How can you not care about whats going on?

Me and my parents agree on the same basics political concepts, but our views on the smaller things vary.

Same here. I generally agree with my parents on most political ideas, but our views differ with variation on certain details.

me and my parents differ only in relegious opinions , we almost agree on everything else

I and my father agree on a few issues and disagree on others but mostly I think we agree on the important things.
As for my mother, well I'm not sure if she even has political views that don't originate somewhere in la-la land.

She doesn't care about what? That you disagree with your dad? About your opinion?

For those who disagree with their parents, depending on how, you could say that we're moving on as a generation. :D

Similar but different, I tend to be more hardnosed and ungenerously right wing in my views.

Re: You and your parents political views

My parents are like a pair of neo-nazis when it comes to politics, so yeah I disagree with them. So far as religion goes, we never speak about it. I know my mother isn't religious (though she was Christened, something I continually mock her about when I'm not exaggerating how badly she broke my leg fifteen years ago...), but I'm not so sure about my father. We have a pretty good arrangement -- I leave them alone, they leave me alone, I give them money, they let me stay in the house.

Re: You and your parents political views

Me and my parents have the same views. Probably because, back when I was little, I asked who we wanted to win the election, and they told me that we wanted so-and-so to win, and I stuck with that. And my brothers and sisters have the same views. And all my classmates. And all my relatives. I pretty much had to. But I'm OK with that.

Me and my parents views on politics are like light and dark, the just aren't the same.

Re: You and your parents political views

We pretty much share the same views but i am a little more radical than them in some of my decisions. Also i am completely away from religion, whereaes they still base some opinions on their religions.

I picked the wrong one. My dad and I both agree on issues, but my mom has turned into a left-wing fanatic. So yeah.

Re: You and your parents political views

My parents support the democrats and are far more liberal than I am (my dad is a little closer to my views). I do not support liberals and I disagree with helping their party in any way. But I seem to dislike conservative views way more which is like my parents. I just plainly dont trust anyone in the government. So I am not really sure how to vote.

personally i think politics suck, and everyone is a liar, but i guess ill have to choose the lesser of the evils when it gets time to vote, in wich case ill go with the greens.

Me and my parents for the most part share the same views, we agree on almost all topics except mayeb for a topic or 1-2. SO yes i basically share the same views which is left/sociailist as you might know. :p

My first (and up to now last election) was for the provincial elections (or was it the national elections after the coalition of Balkenende I did fall?) and i voted PvdA (Partij van de Arbeid = Party of (the) work).

Voted yes. My father and I agree on almost everything, and while my mother doesn't care as much about politics she has quite similar views as well.

Actually...I have mostly "liberal" views, and amazingly one conservative one (gun control). I don't consider myself democrat, because I swear that party is being held together by duck tape. :uhm: :uhoh:

I would vote for libertarian, green, or independant party if they were only more popular. :lookaround:

So... How about voting for them anyway, and helping to make them more popular? You have a tragically comical state of national politics in the US, really...

Because it is a wasted vote, knowing that they will never win. So I vote Democrat because they are closest to the green/libertarians party's ideals.

Me and my father agree with most things...but, if the Irish Civil War was happening today, me and father would be taking up arms against each other!

As for my mother, she claims to have views, but its rare that I hear her speak of them.

In which direction remains subject of debate

JP(NL) April 18th, 2005 02:37 AM

Re: You and your parents political views

My father is a liberal (right wing), my mother is a christian democrat (central), my brother votes for our Labour party (Left wing/central), and I'm a democratic socialist. (left wing)

So the only one I can agree with at times is my brother.

*Note* Do not compare my families' political views with american ones. Even my father would be labeled communist if you were to do so.

Lt. Comm Breslin April 18th, 2005 10:34 AM

Re: You and your parents political views

How is someone with right wing politics considered to be liberal? Liberal is the term used to describe people with a left wing mind? Liberal Democrats in Britian are left wing, Liberals in America are left wing and from my investigation, any Liberal parties in Netherlands has left wing policies...

Is your left wing ultra left and your right wing is moderate left?

hey Lt. Comm, id vote for any british party if it proposed taking over your country, "Rule Britannia, marmalade and jam, 10 chinese fire crackers up your ass, BAM, BAM, BAM!!!"

You don't know Dutch politics. Anything remotely capitalist is right wing. it's easy as pie.

The label Liberal has many meanings.

You can't compare Dutch politics to American or British politics.

Ofcourse they have some "left wing policies". Well, they're "left" in your eyes.

Our left wing parties are communist by most foreign standards.

stop labeling people.
