Some statistics.

I thought this was interesting. Its adapted from an e-mail a friend sent me, but the statistics are closer to reality now.

Heres a little study on the dangers of guns compared to doctors.

In 2002, there were about 300,000 doctors (Anesthesiologists, Family and General Practitioners, Internists, Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, and Surgeons) in America. During the same year, there were 2,600 accidental, medical related deaths. That comes to a rate of .008667 deaths per health care professional in 2002.

The same year, there were 190,000,000 (yes, 190 million) guns in the United States. Also in 2002, there were 31,000 gun related deaths. Just using the handgun figure, that comes to .0001632 deaths per firearm (handgun) in America.

When we compare these two figures, we find that, statistically, doctors are more than 50 times as dangerous as guns.

Another fun fact: not everyone has a gun, but everyone has at least one doctor.

So remember... "Guns don't kill people, doctors do."

there r many mistakes of accidental shootings, persay kids obtaining guns and unfortunatley hurting themselves and those around them, do not say all shootings are intentional

you should compare the amount of medical treatments in relation to the 2.600 accidential deaths with the ammount of gunrelatet actions with people involved in relation to the 31.000 gunrelated deaths...

It would still be the same, if not worse (for doctors, that is). Do you know how many people go to how many shooting ranges every day? Its alot.
