To all chat room users: Ah... No more freedom of speech, just read this article and tell me what you think. http://msn-cnet.com.com/Security+off..._home>1=5750 My fellow posters, rejoice! The CIA is taking away MORE freedoms. |
Re: To all chat room users: That's what happens when americans decide it's okay to give up "some" freedom |
Re: To all chat room users: "Free people do not give up their personal liberties in the name of security." -Osama bin Laden |
Re: To all chat room users: "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." ---Benjamin Franklin |
Re: To all chat room users: Many people are too short-sided to realize that, sadly. Although I do not participate in chat rooms, I think the fact that the goverment is being allowed to do this is disgusting. I agree that if people are too passive and/or too ignorant to be conscious of freedoms that they are being denied, and take no action against it, then they are getting what they deserve. |

It's funny because these are the same people who are the ones complaining about safety and another terrorist attack. Seriously, there aren't many people on these forums who are "important" enough that are going to be the first target a terrorist group is going to strike. :n0e: |
Re: To all chat room users: Many people consider one of their freedoms to be privacy in a setting such as that. |
Re: To all chat room users: Sorry, i meant they were invading our freedom of privacy. first it was the e-mail screenings Now it is spying in chat rooms. |
Re: To all chat room users: um, wouldn't it be just as affective to have a CIA guy make name and just hang out in the chat room? I think you guys are makin a fuss about it because it says "Spy" and "Moniter"... |
Re: To all chat room users: Catch those Pedophiles I say. I don't believe that "pwn" or "asl" is going to cause a red alert any time soon |
Re: To all chat room users: Police have been going into chat rooms under cover for a while now, to try and keep an eye out for potential paedophiles and other chat room related idiocy. You lost your 'privacy' a long time ago so far as chat rooms are concerned -- not that you had any in the first place... |
Re: To all chat room users: The internet never was a private thing, anyone can watch what you are doing. Get over it. I bet if terrorist do use the computer to communicate, they use I-M's or e-mail. osamabomba69: d00d we rocked teh werld trade center!!1 americankiller666: haha yeh d00d u fukcin rok man! |
Re: To all chat room users: You think we've got some CIA members on GamingForums? :D |
Re: To all chat room users: Yeah, they are going to arrest you. Ha! |
Re: To all chat room users: Err is this going to help? stop the terrorists? NO The terrorists won't meet in public chatrooms, they rather meet on private chatrooms/forums or other comunication systems. The terrorists won't post their plans on the net, maybe just come in to contact (and then using some nobish l33t style as posted above) and meet face to face or via some other communication system to speak anout the details (what about the go 'oll hand written letter? Or are they screening every letter that is send (either national or international) too? They won't catch or stop terrorists with this, and besides if this would scare terrorists (it won't) won't they move to foreign forums that does not accept the CIA spying in their country (holland for example probly does allow CIA spying on dutch territory/servers :( ) (where the CIA can't spy upon them , not legally anyway). This measure only hurts the civs not the terrorists if you ask me. |

Re: To all chat room users: Don't worry people, Mr. Matt doesn't work for the CIA, he would never do that. He works for the koala party! I gave him a drug and he told me all about it recently. |
Re: To all chat room users: Ehh, well lets see, it is very wrong for them to be doing that, but if you arent doing anything illegal...then why are you worrying? |
Re: To all chat room users: if they've been monitering chatrooms whats keeping them from monitering forums? |
Re: To all chat room users: Ehh, well lets see, it is very wrong for them to be doing that, but if you arent doing anything illegal...then why are you worrying? That is just an excuse. It is a common conservative concern that the US is rapidly becoming a police state capable of suspending people's personal liberties. Why not listen to our anti-Bush conservative counterparts? |
Re: To all chat room users: If you aren't doing anything wrong, why do you care? Seems like you're complaining for the sake of complaining. :uhm: |

Re: To all chat room users: That's why I don't trust them in the first place. I just don't see what you could possibly be saying that is "legal" that has to absolutely be private. Never in your life will there be a time you aren't being watched. Heck, entire cities aren't safe. As I recall the CIA wanted to test the effects of LSD on entire cities by lacing the water supplies. Back in WWII I think the government sprayed an entire city in California to see how effective bio-warfare could be. |
Re: To all chat room users: damm i live in england so they can't do jack to me |

I think they just brought this up to start more stuff about bush's policys. |

Back in WWII I think the government sprayed an entire city in California to see how effective bio-warfare could be. Just because the government has taken away some of our privacy doesn't mean that the government therefore has the right to introduce further limitations of privacy. In fact, I'd recommend taking away some (emphasis on "some") of the existing measures that sacrifice privacy for security. I think they just brought this up to start more stuff about bush's policys. It has nothing to do with politics, dude. At least not for me. |
Re: To all chat room users: Interesting, republicans are supposed to believe in non-government control. Why are we letting terrorists take away our freedoms? First it's chat rooms next its jail without a trial. |
Re: To all chat room users: It already is. They can hold you without notifying anyone as you are "Involved in an investigation pertaining to terrorism". |
