Once Bush is in office, anything and everything you say about him won't matter to the republicans on this forum. Because not only do we not have to defend him, we could care less what stupid mistakes he made because he got eight years! So while you sit and bitch about his policies for the next four years, expecting a rise out of the right wing, we will be laughing in our chairs because "we" won. Again.

Re: The 2004 Election Update Thread

I wasn't trying to get 'a rise' out of you (sounded a bit weird...), I was being serious. You're flattering yourself if you think our entire lives revolve around 'trying to get a rise out of Republicans'. I think you'll find that now that the elections are over (erm... premature, aren't we?), nobody will be arguing with you so much because there's no point in bothering. It's only his foreign policy which matters to us, he can screw up your country as much as he wants for all we care. It's just the fact that you've just voted for another war that bothers us.

I was talking to people like Mihail who constantly post propaganda filled videos and such. He can do so all he wants, but now we won't care.

Personally, I hope he takes out North Korea myself.

WTF?

He hasn't won a prize X-C, and this isn't a clan match!

This decision by the American people is going to have very real consequences, not only for America, but for the rest of the world. Trust me, I dare say that if the US president's decisions had absoultely no effects outside of America's borders then the rest of the world might not care so much, or at all.

However, US foreign policy and its policies towards climate change and pollution have major (possibly dire) consequences for the World as a whole. If he picks a needless fight against the wrong people then I hope you will still be laughing when the consequences become abundantly clear.

EDIT: Wow, Mr. Matt... You've typed 3 messages in the space it took me to type one pretty much saying the same thing as you! :D

I care so much because Kerry was planning on raising taxes substantially for everyone. He cannot do so. Bush will be raising taxes, but not as high as Kerry would have.

Either way, Kerry and Bush will have both screwed over some more stuff in the world. It isn't like Kerry is a saint just because he isn't Bush.

IIRC, Kerry was planning on raising taxes on people above a certain threshold, so the middle classes would be paying less but those that earn 'silly money' will be paying more... Is that not so? That's what I understood...

You're right that neither candidate is perfect and it's a case of the lesser of two evils. It seems (so far) that the majority of the American voters see that as Bush, but the rest of the world sees it as otherwise.

Re: The 2004 Election Update Thread

Kerry is a liar. It is impossible to complete the programs he was suggesting without taxing every American in America. So either he is lying about these "purdy" programs, or he is lying about raising taxes, which he voted to do so 98 times.

Democrats have a history of raising taxes.

Fox news does not have those numbers. They have the same as every other station. Doesn't matter though, they should just make Kerry 0 and Bush 1,000,000 because Kerry cannot win. It is impossible.

The US is in countless ways the most influencal country in the world and should represent as such. Bush has weakend the US position as a superpower with his foreign policy.

That's probably why many in the Global Community find the current US administration so frustrating... As the only remaining Superpower, it has the potential to do so much good and affect so much change, but only seems to look inward and serve itself... Still, we may be veering off-topic here! :D

Revenge November 3rd, 2004 08:22 AM

Re: The 2004 Election Update Thread

Right here we go...

According to both Sky News, ITV News, BBC News 24 and C4 News, John Kerry has phoned George Bush to concede the election. This comes after reports that George Bush has won Ohio by a majority of around 140 000 votes. 250 000 Provisional votes were also taken and havn't been added (Provisional Votes are the votes that the state found to be slightly suspicious - they may have came from an Unregistered voter or similar) yet, but it is mathematically pretty impossible for John Kerry to win with that. Whoever wins Ohio wins the election, bare in mind.

As it stands, if John Kerry does not admit defeat and wants the provisional votes counted, he would need at least 240 000 votes for him from the 250 000 provisional votes taken. Vurtually impossible considering this is a swing state.
