Wait another year, join the military. Volunteer to combat zone, do 4 months. After you come back, you have a right to questioned what John Kerry or any other veteran did.

Hmmm... Edwards war record none... according to that profile, Edwards should of been 18 in 1971. Thats the age when you get drafted, yet the war goes on for more years and he doesn't get any service time....

Ok..I have stated this fact over and over....and because people do not listen, I will state it agian....

The following country's intel agencies said Iraq had Weapons of Mass Destruction:

Russia
Jordan
Britian
Egypt
United States CIA

Now, they turned out be wrong, yes. And the way we went about the war was a mess, but the fact remains: Bush had an obligation to act as the Commander-in-Chief. If it turned out that Iraq had the weapons, and Bush had the same intel and didnt act...thats an impeachable offence....and you would be here critizing him for not acting when he had so many people saying we need to act...

In the interest of National Security, he had a duty to act.

So does anybody in the United States....Its called Freedom of Speech...you dont have to serve in the military to talk about military records.

Plan too with the Marines...

I dont discredit your service...I actually respect it....but I dont respect you when you think that just because you have served, it means your opinions are completly factual and cannot be argued with.

I believe that is the point of this thread....

Believe me....I wish I could....if it were up to me, I would be there right now. The only thing stopping me is the fact that im still in high school.

Freedom of Speech. I dont have to serve to critize Kerry. Kerry puts forth his record as his campeign spearhead, so everyone has a right to critize it.

You dont have a right to stop our critizisms just because we are not in uniform.

The same constitution you swore to defend with your life garentees Freedom of Speech. You pride yourself on being the only Serviceman in these forums, yet you strike down our freedom of speech, which is what you are supposed to defend at all costs.

Not only do I already have plans to join the Marines (which I think are better than the Army), but I will critize Kerry any time I want, or really I will critize anyone who I feel deserves it, nomatter occupation, race, religion, or anything.

Its like Olympics. Imagine is the judges were just people off the street. Then it wouldnt work. The people judging Olympics are athletes themselves, they been there, have experience. What do you know about figurescating or high jump? Just what you see on tv.
Same goes for someone's military record. What you know is from internet, tv and media. You have no idea what it is like to be under enemy fire. How can you say 4 months in a war is a joke? Its still risking your life!
I dont judge someone on something I know nothing about first hand, and I reccomend same for you
I believe in Free Speech too. Thats why we are here talking about it. But I wasnt there in Vietnam 35 years ago, and you wasnt too.

OK, here's the difference:
John Kerry has pages of documents from the Vietnam War that back his story, as well as all but one of his boatmates. The SBVT guys have a good number of individuals who disagree with the official story, some of whom (5 or 10) served with Kerry during the disputed incidents. However, their disagreement is presented by saying that all the proof, plus Kerry, is wrong 'cause they say so. It's pretty shoddy evidence, being only rumor and testimony, the least reliable proof (which a good attorney or prosecutor could nullify with ease), and it uses the evidence to paint Kerry as another lying liberal America-hater. Sen. McCain, who backs Bush, has alreasy condemned the ads as "baseless" and "unfair", which they are.

Cheney, on the other hand, has documented proof from the Vietnam War wihch says that he didn't go, due to various deferments. Kerry feels that Cheney's lack of service makes him less qualified to question Kerry's patriotism. I admit, I am a Kerry fan, but I've tried to be objective about this.

And my grandfather who was a Master Sergent in the Pacific Theatre in World War 2.... :0wned: so I have a pretty damn good idea. Im not some person who only knows it all from TV, internet, and media. I have read mabey 50 + books about soldiers' experience and heard stories from my grandfather.

You are right. But that doesnt make you any more of an authority of who can discuss Kerry's war record just because you have.

As apposed to his comrades who were there for 10 months to a year or longer, Kerry got off easy.
I am not judging him soly on that. I also factor in what he says and does and how he acts.
You are right, I wasnt, but the point I was trying to make is that you dont have to be in the military to critize those who are/were.

Military service is good, so it should be cared about, but it's not important. I have to agree with mAsTeRcHiEf117.
