A plan to screw the global economy Here's what you do to pull one over on ol' China. As it stands China's economy rests heavily on exportation to the US, its biggest consumer, also about 60% of its exports to the US go through WalMart (yay for the pinnacle of capitalism). So I got to thinking today while eating, if you completly fuck over WalMart, you put at least a considerable dent in China's growing economy (look at all the news sites and papers now a days, they all have articles about its growing industries which while are in their infant stages will grow. Hurt China now, and they may never recover.) But how to fuck over WalMart? Not that confusing after all. You see after reading an article in the NY Times Magazine about the magic that is WalMart, I found out that each manager for each WalMart has the ability to set the prices in each store as he/she sees fit. That means if a WalMart is close to a BestBuy and a RadioShack, you know that its prices will be dirt cheap for electronics and the such, while slightly more expensive for food(The WalMart will go as far as to lower the prices for their goods in a specific field so low that they will lose money selling it, but niether do they really care about losing 5 cents per package of CD's becuase they'll make it back elsewhere). This way each WalMart can turn a profit and steal customers from its competitors. Now the concept of stealing customers isnt wrong at all, its the basis of capatalism in both the regional and global market, get to people to buy your stuff.... But the way WalMart does it is that while it would hurt a BestBuy, it wouldnt be able to put the whole BestBuy company out of business, just make a few outlets unprofitable. But what if a WalMart opens a store right next to a meat shop that happens to be a deli. I dont know about you guys but I've seen WalMart sell some cheap meat and I dont think that the small meat shop will be able to compete, and it will go out of business, as so many have before. This is all fine and dandy, but doesnt answer the question of how to hurt WalMart to screw China.... The Government of the US has to successfully sue WalMart for violation of the Clayton Anti-trust act which is applicable becuase WalMart engages in business practices while inhibiting the fair growth of others. The reason all the anti trust laws came out in the late 19th century and early 20th is because that guy (think is was Rockefeller) who controlled most of the railroad industry would lower his prices so much that even though he was losing money, he could afford to and it would soon drive all his competitors out of business, which to an outstanding degree, is the same thing that WalMart is doing. If we do manage to screw WalMart like this, we could opt to split them up regionally (northwest, northeast, southwest, southeast). All 4 WalMarts would try to get the cheapest things from China, all competing, none working with one another. Eventually one would see it cheaper to build factories in Thailand, Malaysia and the such. China would lose its money to these nations (which in comparison whill have a huge economic upturn). Even if the WalMarts dont go to other countries like that, its hit in the US market that it will receive as a result of the case will China an economic hit in return, and if we're lucky then it could plunge them into recession I only have one question to ask you guys, would this work? I personally think it would be good if China took a hit. |
Re: A plan to screw the global economy cool. you do that. |
Re: A plan to screw the global economy Um, sure, lets go ahead and screw over a country which poses little threat to the US, and we actually depend on alot from China. Look on the back of items....it usually says 'Made in china'..... Sowhy the hell do we wanna screw over China? |
Re: A plan to screw the global economy We don't, it is just a theory. |
Re: A plan to screw the global economy Well, if we screw Wal-Mart, we destroy an Arkansas-based company that dominates the retail industry due to its low profit margins. China will just get the business of whoever replaces Wal-Mart. China can sell to 4 1/4 size Wal-Marts as easily as 1 full-size. If anything, the competition for the best product may boost China. |
Re: A plan to screw the global economy Im still trying to figure out why we would want to screw over China..... Come up with a way to screw over France, Im eager to do that |

Whatever, on topic: Irrelevant, you should look if those figures, I mean those 60% are measured in dollars or tons. It could have some effect on your world domination plans :) What is more, I doubt that China would suffer so much from Walmarts demise. The thing is, even without Walmart US citizens would want to buy those products, so other shops would just jump in the gap. |
Re: A plan to screw the global economy The only people that would suffer from wal mart's demise is Paris Hilton (for thinking wal mart is a place for 'wall stuff'), and finially fat people & Illegal aliens, cuz they wouldnt have a place to work |
