We have good humor here in the US. You can't make judgements based on one show. I could just say, I don't like the Netherlands because of one person. That wouldn't be fair, now would it? But I can see why you think America's funniest home videos is stupid...because it is.
And as for British humor, well, other than Monty Python, I can't really judge it...I haven't heard/seen enough.
I find Dave Chappele's Show hilarious...and I really enjoy Friday Night Standup on Comedy Central. I also really like Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, and The Daily Show...

I wouldn't say American humour is less funny, its just, different, British humour is more subtle (for the most part,) where as American humour is, what I like to call, demolition charge humour, they spell it out for you without leaving enough for the imagination and in the end you feel like you are being forced to laugh rather than that its actually funny.
Well you can't throw all american humor into one pot, but yeah most of the junk is not funny, atleast to me. although most of my favorite shows are british so I agree with you there.
True mihail, not all american programs are the seem, they broadcast several american soaps and other programs. Almost all of the american shows aren't funny exept for a few like the simsons (but even that can be a bit dull sometimes). I never intended to say that ALL american shows suck because there is nothing to laugh about, a great majority does suck however. Again i don't base this statment on 1 program, we broadcast lots of american programs here in the netherlands. British humor just rules! it is (almost) always funny: monthy python, fawlty towers, 'allo 'allo, mum 't aint half hot here, mr. bean, black adder, bottom , etc. (all of which are broadcasted in the netherlands. So most of my favorit programs/shows are british, it just pawns american humor (in most cases).

Reason: i forgot to mention "fawlty towers" !
And Admiral, you've seen the majority of American programming? You don't even live in America, let alone seen much of any American humor.
I ofcourse haven't seen all american programs or the majority of american programs but we broadcast the (american) programs that are considered the most popular in the USA. So the programs that we see here are considered popular in the USA and it will therefor give us (dutch) a good impression on american humor (sinse humor is an important factor in many tv programs).
In general, to get american humor and find it funny, you have to be American (and yes, I am), just as with British Humor, me and my dad for instance, find most Monty Python hilarious, but most of our family members don't (sometime we think it can be a bit dull or stupid too), because they are american. And in turn, British people may not (in general) find our humor funny, because they are british.
But you all must admit, Garfield is extremely funny most of th time. He is too cool.
I doubt the Netherlands have anything that is very funny. Maybe a couple of nerds hacking an Americans computer, because I hear computer hacking is very popular among the teens there. Not to mention trance sucks, and I hear that is another popular form of Dutch music, besides white rap.
