There are some pretty good comedy movies. But the best are the classics. Really, I agree that much of america's humor is highly lame. I don't really watch much TV, but I do like the Simpsons. It's not always funny, but usually. Matt Groening, the creator, came from my hometown. Hee hee! Almost all the characters are named after streets in Portland. Like Flanders. Either that or named after something in the city.

Americans funniest videos suck lol. It is made more for the family, not adults. It is a good show to watch with your children, like the Lion King or something. If you are looking for funny, watch things like the Simpsons (Older episodes), Malcolm in the Middle, King of the Hill for more mature humor, Frasier (Damn I loved that show), King of Queens, ect.
My favorite comedy sitcom right now would be Two and a Half Men. That show just kicks ass, plain and simple.
I also watch the beginning episodes of American Idol for humor. Not the actual competition, but the tryouts.
You are not looking hard enough, even though it is very easy to find good American humor shows.
i hate british comedy/humor. not funny at all. mabe you should stop watching family shows like Americas funniest home videos.

I don't really like watching American comedies. The only good one is Saturday Night Live, and even then its old ones were better. The Simpsons, although a classic, is getting on in its years, the past two seasons have been regurgitated crap from older episodes or rip-offs from Family Guy (which is a far superior series).
Personally I prefer watching Canadian comedy shows, SCTV (Second City TV), This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Kids in the Hall. British comedies are great too, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Absolutely Faboulous (one of my mom's favs).

(i want to say john daly show, but i don't think thats it)
As for the funny news show you are thinking of, its The Daily Show with Jon Stewert. That show own, my fondest memory of that show is when Steve Colbert traced and blamed European terrorism to Romulus and Remus.

I don't find american humor funny, when I watch "america's funiest homevideo's" for example there is nothing to laugh at because the "jokes" made by that presenter are just plain stupid! But the audience seems to find it funny... Same goes for almost all other american programs, TV serials and movies. Whats so funny about "i came to work and everybody was looking at me, i then realised that i forgot my pants" hahahaherrrrrrr.... I find british humor far better and it probally is the best humour in the world? If you ever watch a british TV serial ('Allo 'Allo, mum it aint half so hot here, etc.) you will laugh your pants off! its just so damned funny! british humour pawns american humor by far!
What are your opinions on american/british/ -insert random country here- humor?
Well you can't throw all american humor into one pot, but yeah most of the junk is not funny, atleast to me. although most of my favorite shows are british so I agree with you there.
If you are trying to find humor never, NEVER watch an early morning news show in the US. They make the worst joke but everyone on the set finds the hilarious. The only time it came close to being funny was when on FOX (not their news channel) two of the anchors just pulled out a tin can and string telephone thing and started talking right in front of the person reporting. That was the only time i almost laughed.
