Lost all respect for this man now...

Ok, up to now, I have had no problem whatsoever with President Bush. I thought he was a decent president (better than clinton), and I thought he was doin well for himself. I supported the war, etc etc, but now, ive lost all respect for the man. Why?

He would like to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants

Well, I think for once, if this passes, I will hope for a democrat to win the Presidential election in November...

Re: Lost all respect for this man now...

I doubt it will.

I am somewhat in favor of this bill. But I am equally against it.

The city I live in has immigrants from a US Territory that shall remain nameless, that do nothing but run to welfare and collect money from the government. They don't have jobs, and refuse to get them. They go into the free clinics acting as if they have no money, yet use cell phones and drive nicer cars than I have. (I know this since my mother is a nurse in a hospital) For them, they should be sent the fuck back where they came from.

On the other hand, there are a smaller portion of people that came to this country, and they work... hard. When I lived in Illinois, there is a good sized portion of mexicans that live there. They are the hardest working people I've ever seen. They deserve to be granted amnesty.

I think there should be an attachment to the bill giving amnesty to people illegal immigrants that do indeed work for their money and not sit on their lazy ass and do jack squat. If that happens, I would love to see it passed. If not, he'll never be re-elected. Perhaps this is some ploy to get them to vote for him come voting time. I wouldn't put it past him to stack the deck.

Yea some immigrants work hard. My uncle owns a lnadscaping buisness and he has some mexicans working for him. They work almost everyday of the year except for 2 months, i know that i couldnt do that, espically in the field cause it is hard work. (i have worked with him a few times)

The thing thats really burns my ass is that I used to work for a casino in IL, I was a merchant marine, and one of the guys I worked with was a philipino, nice guy and all, but we got into a disscussion once about him becoming a citizen....and he said he never would......why?.......he can live and work here and NOT pay taxes...........WTF is that shit, send em back, and send them all back, if I have to bust my freakin ass and watch dubya take my money and never get it back being a citizen, shouldn't I get more perks then the guy from the philipines or any other country for that matter?

PS, n0e about what parts of IL did you live?

How very tasteless,

This thread has become a proverbial minefield of slightly racist remarks. Alas, I recognize the rhetoric from the immigration debate in my home country. Regrettably it is rhetoric used by the right wing parties.

“we should stop giving immigrants rights...”
This is without doubt the most offensive thing I have read so far. How on Earth can you justify depriving human beings of any rights for the simple reason of being an illegal immigrant?

Re: Lost all respect for this man now...

Well, I am slightly in favor of the bill because:

a) We get the Social Security tax that the illegal immigrants will not recieve

b) If we can't get Americans to do the job now, might as well give them to Illegals

c) It identifies where the Illegal immigrants are, which we can find them and ship the back :)

Now by requiring giving illegal immigrants minimum wage, employers can no longer cut coners by hiring illegal immigrants for 2 dollars an hour to save money. Now they have to pay minimum wage, and they might as well get Americans to do it if it is going to cost the same, and they won't get in trouble, whereas if the had illegals working for them, they might.

Whats wrong with the Dutch immigration policy?
I live there and I see no problems with the policy, I not agree on ALL points of the policy, but I support most of them.
The big thing thats wrong with it is to just say to the immigrants (when they are here for 4 years waiting for an answer) sorry you have to go, there is the exit, go! We need to help them to get back to their country, or else they will just sleep on the streets and dissapear into the shadows and make trouble.

We need some illegal immigrant, so they can do the dirty jobs the citizens refuse to do. I would say: Only give shelter to immigrants if they flet there country because of a war or a disaster or something, but send them back ASAP.
We need no immigrants that come here to empty our pockets, if you here to work, urn money, pay taxes, buy a hous, get children etc etc. thats ok with me. But just dont empy our pockets!

they shouldnt have any rights to begin with. they are getting citizen rights for being here illegally.. now tell me, should they have those rights? no. not at all.

they are here illegally, and that means we woul be giving rights to criminals, which is unjust.

i live in one of the most highly illegal imigrant populated states. and let me tell you, they drive cars, they get money from the goverment, and they NEVER pay taxes, yet they milk the system for all its worth.

now tell me, do they deserve the same rights as a citizen? no.

and in colorado, they live in rich neighborhoods because they have so many kids, and lots of kids = more money from the goverment. they live in neighborhoods where no person making less than $50,000+ a year can live there, yet they live there.

it isnt always a nice thing to see when you are looking for a house, and the area you want to live in has illegal aliens, and they can live there, but you cant, because you cant afford it, but they can because they are taking the goverment for all its worth.

I like what n0e said.

We need to try and filter out the illigal imigrants who are here and working thier asses off, and let them stay and get them the green card and citizenship they desserver for thier work. And we need to kick the rest the hell back to wherever they came from or have them work thier asses off just like the other guys.

The only problem w/that idea is how hard and probably costly it would be to do...

One thing we really need to do is tighten up the US-Mexico border....

Ah, i was waiting for a statement of this nature, some illegal loving guy. First of all sir, where do you live?

Mainly right wing conservitives are agianst this because Right Wing Conservitives have the right ideas. Illegals are just seen as more votes for left - wing democrats. Republicans are doing more to look out for others in some instances. Democrats look out for themselves. They say crap to please illegals (Like frmr Gov Gray Davis) to buy votes.

I live in San Diego, CA, USA. I live a mere 10 miles from the border. I have no problem with immigration. I have a problem with illegal immigration.

These people were going to get free drivers licenses. They dont deserve it.
They get free healthcare. They dont deserve it.
They are amoung 14 percent of arrested people every year.

It pisses me off, people come here illegally, they earn money, and dont pay taxes. I bust my a$$ off to get minimum wage and most of it goes to taxes.

These people like us so much? Do what Arnold did. He waited god-damn 15 years to get citizenship.

Re: Lost all respect for this man now...

And now for the British PoV:

We have a long history of immigration to our nation, the major period of which was after the Second World War when, short on Man Power, we threw open our borders to Commonwealth Citizens. The United Kingdom received an influx of Asian and Afro-Caribbean immigrants in the post war years. We needed labour; the immigrants needed jobs and were enticed by the promise of equal rights, free health care, employment, overall, a better standard of living.

They came to our nation, and became an inherent part of our culture. I have Asian friends; my extended family is liked to Jamaica. Or course, we still have race issues. There are still ignorant fuckers (is chose that word very carefully) who abuse and discriminate against these immigrants, many of whom are third or fourth generation now and have never even been to the place their ancestors were born. But in the main we get along as well one might expect. We have laws (the Race Discrimination Act) which protect the rights of all to live without fear of discrimination, victimisation or harassment on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnic and national origin.

Now we have a new immigration boom occurring as we speak. Britain received almost one in five of asylum applicants in the Western world in 2002. There are no figures for the illegal immigration which is occurring. Our tiny nation is being over-burdened by immigrants who see our country as a place where they will get; a) National Health Service. B) Welfare State. At one stage, due to the French cleverly placing their main immigration camp at the mouth of the Channel Tunnel, we had hundreds of illegal immigrants arriving each day. They would board trucks or ships, often in cramped, terrible conditions, such was their desperation to reach Britain.

Now I’m worried. Our nation is over-populated as it is, and house prices are soaring. Where are these people going to go? We (yes me and my fellow tax-payers) have to provide food, clothing, healthcare, education, housing etc for people who arrived here under false pretences or illegally. International Asylum Law states that a refugee must stop at the first country they come to. So, if the refugee reaches Germany, they stay in Germany. France, they stay in France. Due to our now idiotic border control policy within the European Union, anyone who arrives in the E.U. has the freedom to go wherever they wish within the E.U.. Soon, the E.U. will be welcoming 10 new member states from the old Eastern Bloc. Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Cyprus and Malta will all be official members of the European Union on May 1, 2004. I pity our nation. There is no other nation with a Welfare State system which rivals our own. We are going to become a target for hundreds of thousands of ‘legal’ immigrants which we cannot support. This is why race crime is increasing. The morons amongst us see one immigrant the same as another and all races, creeds and colours linked with immigration are becoming targets. We have recently suffered Race Riots in Oldham and Bradford (large Asian population centres) and Oldham now have a National Front councillor. Things are getting a right royal screw over in the UK right now, and things will only get worse.

The most annoying, frustrating thing is: there is nothing our Government can do about it. We have pretty much signed away our rights to govern our own nation to unelected ‘Eurocrats’ in Brussels. It is time for us to take back control of our Nation and the way we run it. I have never advocated joining the E.U. The single currency has done for harm than good to those who joined. We have more in common with America, and I would rather follow America all the way to hell and back then become a ‘European’ in the modern sense.

Regards,

…or would that be... some illegal loving guy? :uhoh:

I would call it Mr. Uninformed naive guy.

Dear Mr. Giovanni, I find your post distasteful and your opinion simplistic.

While you support the illegal crossing of these immigrants let me ask you a question.

Do you have a job?
Go you have a nice house or place to call home?
Are you a student or are you in the working world?

I no longer have a job. I was laid off from work In November of 2002. I can no longer get unemployement. I cant get federal help of any kind.

I currently still have my house only because of the help from my parents and friends as I have struggled to get any income I can.

I have to worry week to week about where to get money for groceries, bills, and gas for car to go job hunting. My only outlet is my internet access since I dont have the money to go to movies, clubs, resturants, etc.

I work my ass off to make ends meet and now the goerment wants to treat teh illegal immigrants better than i can get and im a US citizen! why should I not curry at least equal favor?

And yet with the State I live in recently recording the highest unemployement, highest bankruptcies, and highest bank foreclosures on mortgages in the nation you think I am being selfish to say the illegals should not be allowed in?

If i dont watch after my own intersts who will? certainly not GW Bush, this ploy is only to gainfavor come election time.

Yet you suggest that it is due to our selfish desires to retain what we have and that we would prefer the god of riches personified over human beings.

You dont seem to comprehend that most of us on here are not suggesting that people suffer unduly, merely that they follow the systems and procedures like everyone else, not be rewarded for doing what they knew was wrong. They know they are supposed to get a green card.

In my city whether they are a illegal immigrant or not any one in need of emergency health care will not be denied. They will bill you of course and the care will probably not be the best but they wont push you out onto the street to die.

and Mr. Giovanni, if you were to read agge's post before criticizing you would see that he and the others are not saying no to LEGAL immirants who have bothered to follow the directions the system, only those who seek to profit from ill gotten means. The people who follow the system and work for a living should be rewarded, not those that cheat and circumvent the system. AegenemmnoN

And most immigrants are not loathed and detested, most work hard and abide by the laws.

Your intentions are well meant but are misplaced.
