I just got Portal yesterday and the graphics are amazing. the game-play is incredible and the portal gun is a completly amazing device! I love the game!

I'm having trouble with stage 18, I'm in the big room where you pushed the button to get into. Then, I got rid of all the turrets. But now I can't get the energy orb into the right place. I think it all has to do with extreme timing, which I simply suck at. I'll give it a rest for now. I normally come up with solutions to puzzles when I sleep on them.

If you're bad at timing puzzles it's actually easier to use a save before entering the room with the turrets and launch across via a portal on the ram once it's in the slanted position (can't place it until then). Then run back out and jump off the ledge in the room with the floor button with a pre-made or shot-on-the-fly portal. Doing it that way you WILL get shot a bit though. This will activate the moving scaffolding as well, but you won't need it to get back. Well placed portals are easier and safer.

The other way is to shoot a portal at any one of the spots the energy pellet hits the wall, another across from the trap door you need to open. Save just after the pellet comes out that second portal. Then shoot a portal at the partition wall right across from the trap door button and one on the wall next to where you're standing (best to pick a spot where you can see the pellet coming). Then all you need do is jump through the portal in the wall next to you just before the pellet gets to the trap door and hit the action key as you're next to the trap door button.

I finished it several days ago. Excellent game, for some odd reason I've played three times over now, it's a delight to play. And the credit song, I don't think you have to extract it. I saw it for free at one of the game entertainment sites around here somewhere.
