| Hello all. It is Kelt Knight. I will be posting my work here and would like for others to post their work here as well and have art critiques on the work to help out with the artist. Lastest work. This is a lap top I made for my MAYA lighting and rendering class. Final render. This is part of a small movie that shows off the model and the lighting and shaders used. I am happy with it. | Whoa, you did some very nice work there. I too am interested in modelling, but unfortunately I don't have a workstation gpu (can't afford one either ), so I have to limit the amount of vertices used.

You can use a card other than a workstation card. I am using SLI QUAD GTX 295s.

| I've got a 4890, I can get a good amount of detail, but if I overdo it then it gets pretty slow

| Ya I work with ZBrush and Mudbox and work with models that are millions of polys and it does not slow it down. The ram and CPU are important as well as the card.

| I'm using XP for now, so it only detects 3GB instead of the 4 total gigs. Damn, I see you've OCed your CPU a good bit. I can't OC mine unless I get some aftermarket cooling.

I would try to get Windows 7 64 Bit and you should be fine. W7 is going to be cool to work with. I had RC1.

| It is not that hard. There are so many vids on the net showing how to do it. They are books as well. It is so cool because anything you can think of you can make.

| Uh welcome amongst us. Unless I'm mistaken you come from the SI forums correct? I remember the child knight render there. Anyways loving the notebook scene. While I've heard of Zbrush, I can't say I know much about mudbox. What's it like (also what does it focus on in general :P)? As to massive differences between old xp and vista x64. Definitely agree on that. The way x64 PS, lightwave and terragen act is beautiful ![]() - admittedly my 3d works ends at around - oh cool I made a box!
