And shouldn't it be moved somewhere else?

I play the drums decently, I can play some tunes or chords on the guitar here and there...

I've always thought your kit is absolutely amazing. Where do you get the cash? o_O

Re: Do you play a instrument

The drums themselves were $600 US, slightly discounted because I bought the floor model at the store instead of a brand-new one in a box (I got the floor model because it was the only one left in that finish). Pretty much all of that came from saved-up gift money from relatives over the years. The Zildjian cymbals were $400 for the lot, saved up over a few months at work and bought in a value pack. The china cymbal and timbales were both Christmas gifts. The twin bass pedal I got for 1/4 the original price secondhand from a friend. Pretty much everything I have is budget-oriented. The drums are one of Tama's cheapest lines, but I don't need anything really professional. The cymbals are all Zildjian ZHT, one of their budget lines. Not as good as A Customs, but once again, they serve their purpose.

So, my advice: have relatives who like giving you money. =p
Failing that, have a job and save everything you don't immediately need, and do some research, maybe get something used for less money than full price. Try and get budget-oriented stuff, like pre-packed cymbals and such. If you see an ad that says "Free [something]with the purchase of [something else]", go for it. It might be more expensive, but if you don't get it, you'll want it later and have to pay full price. That's how I got my 18" ZHT Medium Thin crash.

Mine new, in a box, was around the same price as yours, and it's slightly less "qualitative".
Well, I guess that stuff's just generally cheaper in the US...

Play Bb clarinet and good at it: I'm pretty much the leader of the whole band in my school.

I sight read music quite well now so I can get the easy school music down in no time.

Re: Do you play a instrument

I've been playing electric guitar for about 3 years and I've gotten really good. For instance, I can play the solo on through the fire and flames.

Re: Do you play a instrument

Damn. You must have lightning fingers. Can you match it note-for-note?

Dragonelf68 January 22nd, 2008 07:27 PM

Re: Do you play a instrument

No. I've miss about 5-7 notes on average.

Nittany Tiger January 22nd, 2008 07:40 PM

Re: Do you play a instrument

That's still pretty damn good.

Dragonelf68 January 22nd, 2008 08:24 PM

Re: Do you play a instrument

Yeah. But it's just the solo. I'm hoping to get a band together so we can play. I do do music for school dances and other local events, but they only have me up for mabye 3 or 4 songs mainly because, it's just guitar. Sure it's good, but it doesn't have the rest.

That's the first time i've heard anyone brag about this song outside of guitar hero.

Re: Do you play a instrument

^Lolz XD!!!!

I've got an electric, also courtesy of christmas. It's an Epiphone LP100, just an entry level, but it sounds really nice. I have an acoustic that I haven't played for a few years, because I wasn't good, and I got bored of the absence of an electric, so I'm basically starting all over with my LP. That being said, I can pick up most songs that don't have solos (I have no clue how to solo), just by watching the patterns on youtube. I don't have a music teacher as of yet, but I suck in pretty much everything I can by watching youtube lessons. I don't know much by the way of music notes on the guitar, besides the basic strings and up to the 5th fret, but if I see someone play something I can get it to sound the same, and I make up my own little riffs here and there.

Try learning "The Dark Eternal Night" by Dream Theater from Youtube. =p

^hmm... I'm don't like metal much, but the riff sounds good. I can't find a lesson though, do you have a link?

I learned the basics but then things got to stressfull and I had to quit. But besides the basics I'm self taught. I have good note recognition and I can play some songs by just listening and watching the videos but I miss 20-40 notes on average then.

I play electric and accoustic guitar, paino, and a little bass. Electric guitar is by far my favorite.

I might get a 7 string just to learn how to play The Dark Eternal Night...
