Punk Discussion

So, I was thinking, since we have a death metal discussion thread, why not a punk discussion thread?

I know there's a few punk fans on these forums besides myself. I just thought maybe it would be cool where we could just have one place to discuss our love for this genre.

So, discuss away, all!

Ahh yes, Ramones, Rancid, Op Ivy, Offspring...good bands. And, I agree on Good Charlotte. I despise them, though, I'll admit, I found their song "Anthem" kind of catchy.

I do like Sum 41 though. Older Sum 41...their new stuff just doesn't appeal to me as much.

Re: Punk Discussion

Well, I guess you could call most pop-punk nowdays bubblegum-rock. Which isn't necessarily bad, as the Ramones are considered bubblegum-punk. It just really depends on your personal tastes, and what you can stand.

Re: Punk Discussion

The Rommons are not bublegum. Bubblegum rock is all crap. The rommons are real punk with a unique fast paced sound.

Re: Punk Discussion

I am way intopunk. But mainly new punk, hardcore punk, etc. Not really into the old real punk like The Clash and The Ramones.

Hardcore/Metalcore Punk

Alexisonfire,
Atreyu,
Bullet for my Valentine,
Eighteen Visions,
From Autumn to Ashes,
From First to Last,
Sunk Loto,
Thrice,
Underoath.

Alot of Newer Punk, Alternative Punk, and Punk Rock,

Ataris,
Billy Talent,
Blink 182,
Coheed & Cambria,
Fall Out Boy,
Green Day,
Hawthorne Heights,
Jimmy Eat World,
Rise Against,
Rufio,
Story of the Year,
Sum 41,
The Living End,
The Offspring,
Yellowcard.

I don't know if any of these are real punk. But I am just stating what I like, and what I assume is Punk/Punk Rock. ;)

Re: Punk Discussion

I still prefer the old stuff. I have had to re-buy the stuff so many times. First on tape, then CD. Here's a couple I still listen to.

Crass
Subhumans
Germs

I have found a couple "newer" sounding bands I've been enjoying lately with that Bad Religion kind of feel.

Break the Silence
Ignite

I like Rise Against, but I think that the rest of Punk sucks. :)
