Help, I Can't Get Past The Mg42's - Normandy Section

After killing the Colonel and then blowing up the Tiger with the 88, I am then ordered to blow the 88 up. When I first went around the two burnt out vehicles I was blasted by at least 3 MG42's. Second time round I killed the one in the bunker with my Lee Enfield, threw down some smoke and charged the MG42 manned by a single soldier standing behind a fence. Blasted him good style, emptied the whole mag into him - he then gets up and slots me! I have tried 10's of times to kill him - no good! I even got to within a few feet of him, still blasting away, he would fall down and then get back up again! Even better still the MG42 fired on its own. What is going on here, your help is need. I know that there is a box of health and demolition charges around the corner as i managed to get there once. Any help wold be greatly appreciated.
