Holy fan noise batman... Okay, I've been playing my 360 for the past few days - no probs. All stock non-modded etc nothing on it or anything. It's in a well ventilated spot on my A/V rack with nothing on top of, behind, in front of, or beside it so nothing is blocking any air vents on it. I have it sitting horizontally as well. Today when I powered it on for the first time (after being off for the entire night) it started out quiet. Then slowly it ramped up and up and up and now it sounds like I have a freakin' jet in my room. I took a video of this loud bastard to show what I mean. Loud Xbox 360 As you see, opening the tray does nothing to silence it. Only turning the bastard off shuts its infernal whirring up. In the video the 360 had been on for two minutes. And it is making that much noise. This is where I feel like I am - notice the similarities (Other than the glorious lack of fighter jets in my room)? It is EXCESSIVELY loud. I mean I know how loud it is normally and this shit is just ridiculous. I'm going out of my mind listening to it whirring over in the corner like a jet turbine, you can hear it out in the hallway with the door closed its so loud. What the hell can I do to fix this? I called Microsoft support and they just say "Yeah it's normal, get over it" which I know it isn't normal. It hasn't been this loud before, why now for no reason? It's definitely the back fan, if I cover it with my hand it gets much quieter. Microsoft didn't want to do anything unless something wasn't working...how about I break that fan then we'll have a fixable problem...lol, seriously though any help with this? I know they have intercoolers but those are just more fans which = more noise. Geez a damn liquid cooled 360 would be nice... Perhaps related, the other day while playing Fable II the game kept catching and taking awhile to load stuff like the buttons at the bottom and the icons over the peoples heads as reactions. It has been better but it was particularly stuttery and acting stupid when I was playing yesterday. Any ideas/suggestions? |
Re: Holy fan noise batman... go phone Xbox then... |
Re: Holy fan noise batman... Congratulations. You are a couple of weeks away from the red ring of death. This happens right before a Xbox 'bricks' on you. Happened to me twice now. Both times, Microsoft fixed for free but that was after talking to about 50 tech support people, all ironically with indian accents. Microsoft dont like to admit that they make 360's in the cheapest way possible. However, we all want to keep playing to only justify the price we get the damn machine at in the first place. |

Oh great, RRoD? Hm, this is a relatively fresh console. After my last one had a major disc drive failure with help from me (Damn you Ninja Gaiden II) I had a much newer 360 sent back in its place. It plays other games fine, just Fable II that acts stupid sometimes. Also after I played it for a bit it seemed to get much quieter, back to it's normal noisy state not the ridiculous one I was hearing in that video. Well, I guess not much to do in that regard but wait then... |
Re: Holy fan noise batman... You must not be farmiliar with the whole Microsoft Tech Support thing Shintsu. THEY DONT CARE! |
