how to connect my 360 to XBL?

I have an Xbox 360 and I want to connect it to XBL. I have a Cable connection with a cable modem across the room from the TV I have my 360 on. What is the best way to connect my 360 wirelessly? I dont currently have a wireless network so what do I need to buy so that my 260 can connect? Is an Xbox 360 Wireless Networking Adapter enough or do I need a router on my cable modem AND that devise. Please advise me someone :)

You'll need both and the Xbox adaptor alone costs $99. I say just use an ethernet cable

You are going to need both a wireless router and the Xbox 360 wireless network adapter.
