What is this game like?
 

I have wanted to buy it for a little while, but I just didnt know what it was like. For those who have it, how good is it? Is it like any other RTS or does it stand out from the crowd?

i really like it...it has its bugs and slowdowns (Much like CnC Zero Hour), but it is overall really fun......Gandalf Pwns all

My friend is obsessed with it. Apparently it's really good, both single and multiplayer.

BFME is a great game. It's just so cool to watch the heroes take on hordes of Orcs or Uruk-Hai and beat them. It's also a big plus that you can actually put your archers on the walls. The only problem I have with it is that there are never enough Command Points.

yeah, and i dont like the fact that you cant take your archers OUT of towers.....but i havent gotten the patch (if there even is one).....that might have been fixed

There have been two patches so far. I recommend the BFME Extended Edition, it adds a lot to the game.

It's an ok game, definately doesn't stand out of the RTS genre for me. The singleplayer lost a lot of it's fun for me pretty soon (there is 2, a good and evil one, basically the movie for the most part), and the gameplay is cool to watch but basically boring/mindless. All you have to do is amass a bunch of units, but even then when you send them into combat, only a few will actually only be attacking at a time, so I guess it's poor in that respect too. Has hero units as well (Gandalf, Ringwraiths, Balrog, Aragorn, etc.) which are cool, and pretty much balanced overall, not to mention do add some strategy to the game. For me, for sure not as good a game as something like Warhammer 40k, or Warcraft 3, or even the original Age of Empires, it's ok though.

Here is the modder's, site, where you can find the BFME mod, and all it's features. Among a few are: more hero abilities, being able to ungrassion towers, and overall more balanced gameplay.

yeer, its prety tight, i got my copy of the game just after i posted.
