Sabers are for Panzys

So I finaly got around to picking up the Best Of with KotOR and started playing.

From my SWG days I have been die hard anti-jedi/saber :-P

SO naturaly My charicture would never ever lay his hands on pathetic glowstick. My friends were all telling me "Dude, blasters are way gimped!" That is simi-true. They are untill ya get Force Speed-2 :-P

From then on out it was rediculusly easy. Killed most bosses before they could get more then one or two hits on me, Bastila being the easyest ^_^

Been thinking of going through again and refining my Commando/Sneaky Commando some :)

What do yall think? Blasters or Glow Sticks?

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

Mix of both. You get three characters, might as well have one tank, one ranged damage-dealer, and one support. With that setup - whether I have the melee tank use a saber or a sword - I can pretty much sit back and let the game play itself.

Game tends to be much better in solo mode for that very reason, in my eyes. :uhm:

Im for blasters...but when it comes to LS I can't resist the red glow.

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

It was quite funny in all the cut scenes where Revin is walking, hes holding his hands out like hes carrying a blaster but nothings there :-P

It makes me sad tho that there is no stance feats for Heavy Weapons or Rifles :(

They got Dueling and double-bladed and two weapons but not one for a single big gun :(

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

That's because they work on the same principal that the NGE was introduced to SWG for.

Glowbat swinging, Force Running is the biggest money spinner.

That, and Jedi and Lightsabers in KOTOR and TSL are done much better than what they became post NGE in SWG. (Or so I believe anyway.)

RagNoRock January 10th, 2008 10:03 AM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

NGE was introduced to conter the inital problem caused by the Jedi Marketing. They never should have been put in in the first place and were inherently flawed. NGE balanced them finaly.

Post NGE Jedi/Non-Jedi are all pritty much ballanced, better then KotOR because to get a good blaster person in Kotor ya need the Speed :-P

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

:uhm: why would anyone play a Star Wars game without using lightsabers?? I mean, it's like playing Panzer Dragoon and complaining about dragons!!

:uhm: the whole attraction on Star Wars are Jedi/Sith and their luminous sticks!!

Mikouen January 10th, 2008 10:44 AM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

I don't buy that. In fact, I find the whole Jedi thing to be one of the least impressive elements of Star Wars.

I don't think I ever used a saber or Force power in the Dark Forces / Jedi Knight series unless I was left with no other viable option.

For me, the space element is a lot more impressive, just a shame that all the official Star Wars space games didn't build on it anywhere near as well as they should have.

Yeah, not really...
Star Wars is a Sci-Fi tale of an empire trying to bring peace to its citizens and an unruly pack of terrorists trying to disrupt their efforts. :)

Jedi and Sith alike are just a bunch of whinny kids complaining about eachother basicaly :-P

Light Jedi "You need to join our club k? Your club is bad."
Dark Jedi "Nuh uhh, you join our club or else!"
Light Jedi "Our club doesn't give in to threats!"
Dark Jedi "Well then suffer through hearing them for the next 40 thousand years, MUAHAHAH!!!"

Mikouen January 10th, 2008 11:16 AM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

Only the twist is that the terrorists are the good guys.

Bit of a change from most movies, as the little guys are usually portrayed as the villains, when it's not always like that - rarely is, in fact.

RagNoRock January 10th, 2008 11:24 AM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

If you can call the disruption of peace and killing of millions of inocents "Good" :-P

Empire for life :-P

Mikouen January 10th, 2008 11:27 AM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

Last I heard, the only ones who killed any number in the millions during the GCW, was the Imperials. Don't think I need to remind you of Alderaan, eh? =p

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

You mean the secret rebel bomb that detonated the inner core of that poor defenceless planet?

What about the two space stations that were under construction that the rebels viciously blew up? Not to mention the blow the economy and millions of other peoples lives when so much contract labor was ruined and all the projects for building were terminated. The Suicide and Homeless numbers went up by 500% after the destruction of LoveStar I and 700% after LoveStar II :-P

Inyri Forge January 10th, 2008 11:41 AM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

RagNoRock -- there was no contract labor to build the Death Star. We like to call it slave labor.

But nice try! ;)

RagNoRock January 10th, 2008 12:24 PM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

Like hell I would trust such an important station to slave labor!

Slaves built the pyramids just fine.

Inherently flawed?

Every class in the game is flawed, with the biggest flaws being those of the community who cry out for nerfs of whatever class they can't beat 1 on 1, because they chose a class that shouldn't be a toe to toe fighter in the first place.

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

Well, this is the first time I have heard someone say Star Wars is not about Jedi/Sith tradition.

Most people I know love Star Wars because of this, and actually it is the only thing that separates it from other storylines like Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica.

Personaly, I love the philosophy in Star Wars, it is the only thing I haven't found in any other space opera, save perhaps, Dunes.

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

The Jedi/ Sith thing IS the bigger part of the story. Most Games, Mods, Books, Comics, Fan-fic is about Jedi/ Sith.

I go for Jedi, 'cause Lightsabers are really cool tools, you can do/fix everything/one with a Lightsaber: Droids, Speederbikes, Crates, Soldiers, Doors, Sith, Emperors, toast Hawaii...=p

I find the space & science part of SW a lot more interesting. For example, Hyperspace.

It fun to watch the Millennium Falcon outrun some TIEs and jump to HS but PLAYING as the Millennium Falcon while trying to outrun 6 TIEs and jumping to HS... thats PWNAGE.

Half of the Rebellion came from Alderaan. Why would they blow it up?

Conspiracy, people... conspiracy...

He seems to be doing a roleplay of a staunchly loyal and ignorant Imperial citizen.

Nope, you're right first time.
Unless you count the scrawl, but then people could go on 'til someone says the 20th Cantury Fox fanfare.

Nah, George Lucas was a huge Kurasawa fan, and wanted to create an adventure fantasy that bore similarities to Kurasawa films at times.

No I mean that is like the first thing that comes to mind when someone says Star Wars either Jedi, Sith, or Wookiee's

Or Death Stars, the Millenium Falcon, Star Destroyers, pointlessly annoying gungans, badly written love story......

The obvious one there would have to be Manakin and Padamammy...... I don't even want to imagine Luke and Leia.

So much so that I may just check my self into a psychiatric clinic for electro shock treatment as a preemptive measure.

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

Yes, but that one was all the fault of Lucas. I really feel sorry for any people who supported that relationship. I even read fanfictions of that if they have a good storyline. Granted, the majority tend to involve Leia's rape by Luke, but I can hope for a good one one day. Hell, I'm writing an incest fic. I don't see it as anything wrong. You can't help who you love and if it's willing on both sides and they have no biological children, I'm perfectly fine with it.

I'm actually tired at the entire sith/jedi hassle being in the centerpoint.
Come on, it's not like the force was strong or something.
Sure I don't mind a jedi in the story, like in the medbase duology. I just detest them being constantly in the mainlight.
Would you trust me, I hated Kotor one for a while after dantooine - I wanted to continue being a darned scoundrel not a good for nothing sentinel.

And anyone remember the adventures of starkiller? That was supposed to be the first version of SW - good bindu force or something :D
And stormtroopers had the glow sticks.
Maybe they forgot to retrain to blasters.

Meleardil January 15th, 2008 04:52 PM

Re: Sabers are for Panzys

Yeah, no offense to anyone, but:

thanks God and G. Lucas wife, this version was never filmed. After he finished the new version ( with Luke Skywalker ), she had to re-cut the movie because the version Mr. Lucas made was crap.
And what happened? What is Star Wars now?
Do you think the "Original" version, with Mr. Starkiller and a Millenium Falcon that looks like the shuttles from " Space 1999" and a lot of other things, would have been a world-wide succes? I don't think so.

No matter what G. lucas intentions have been in the first place the facts are:
The story is from the beginning with Jedi/ Sith - Ben ( Obi-Wan ) Kenobi, who told Luke that his father was a JEDI, after the Death of Owen and Beru Luke decided to with Ben, to become a JEDI.
Darth Vader is the Lord of the Sith. I'm not sure that it was the plan, that Palpatine is a Sith too, well, if you are a powerful, vicious Lord of the Sith, would you serve or would you rule?:D

Star Wars is: the fall of the Jedi Order and the Rise of the Empire ( Ep1-3 ) and the fall of the Empire and the Rise of the New Republic/ Jedi Order.
:cya:

Then be a good-for-nothing Consular. Consulars suck in my opinion. Hell, Guardians aren't that great either. But you don't have to use Force Powers. I only tend to use Force Kill, no matter what my alignment.

Yeah, if those are the Empire's best soldiers, I have a feeling that the worst soldiers would probably be unable to, as Jos from Medstar says, "hit the broad side of a Destroyer... from the inside."

simple fact is...the light saber because theres no cross hair for blaster(and u cant controll fire etc) but thats y u play other games like star wars jedi commader i think it is...pro at it :D

Half of your post appears to be nonsensical babble. The other half of your post... appears to be nonsensical babble.

Of course sabres don't have crosshairs. For one, it's not a gun. And more importantly, a Jedi needs no crosshairs. Use the Force, irishladdy08.
