True Freeform Game...

Okay,

Well, personally I had some issues over all. I mean I love the games, and play them no matter my personal opinions based on them, since eh, I didn't have the ability or balls to make them myself, so who am I to complain. However, there is one thing, that hey, if I could be on the R&D for these gaming systems, I'm sure they would be given twice as much work to do, but gamers would enjoy the games more.

For starters, JKJA is like wow...finally a return (somewhat) to the original JA style, where you can go light or dark....but the story doesn't change.. I mean I do the same missions, for the same purpose which is a "good" purpose....I created my own sith skins for characters that I planned to go sith in the game, prepared all these different sabers from the sabers I had for JK2 and got them ready, I even created the "half-saber" for Darth Maul, so that it could be broken in two, or used as an incomplete saber for starting the game in single player. (basically, my zabrak sith hadn't finished with her saber yet). Whatever. I go throught the game, complete the second tier of missions, and end up facing Rosh on VJun...what happens, Kyle tells me he felt the anger "seething" within me. Okay true enough, my Sith was quite the diabolical type.

Then I stop to advance my other light side character, much of a mace-windu clone, using his saber, and single saber only all the way through the game, (which is very fun) and I get him to VJun as well. After the battle Kyle tells me again that he felt the anger "seething" within me. WTF??!!?!?!? My Zabrak was sith, so she was angry, but my Jedi character, had recieved both times from luke that he was "at peace, on the true path of the jedi" why would he suddenly be filled with anger.

And then i find that in Tier 3 I HAVE to start taking darkside powers, because all my lightside are maxed, instead of allowing for a specialization slot...like i've mastered all the lightside, so giving me a new "lightside only" power, that shows my dedication to lighter powers...or something....much like in JK: DF2, when you stayed light side, you got Force Protect, when you remained Darkside you got Eyes of Destruction.

And seriously, as they feel the anger growing in my sith characters, why the hell would I continue to help them fight the Sith, wouldn't instead, I switch over, and have Rosh remain the jedi. Then a new set of missions would be implace for the sith character who has been expelled for his darkside tendencies from the Academy.

Finally, force balance. The neutral forces you cannot affect, nor do you have access to all the style. Like with count dookus saber, it makes more sense for him, to have the Tavion, Dual, and Desann styles, instead of the default Fast, Medium, and Strong. it is a single saber but used slightly differently than a normal saber. Personally, I would love to rework the single player game in a mod or something, that allows for this kind of freeform game play, which allows you not only to affect the neutral powers more directly, (like some jedi focus more on defense than offense for their sabering) as well as more individualized styles for the sabers - ie single saber any 3 of the 7 saber styles can be chosen to use, for dual and staff, you can select the saber style for the single blade instead of having to script it in the sab files. But a complete balance of power...
each tier contains 5 missions and a final academy mission, after which your neutral powers increase. If you start favoring darkside in your force powers as well as actions (killing everyone instead of mind tricking those you can just walk by), or killing innocents out of frustration...
you get 2 force points every other mission. thus showing the "faster, easier" progress of the darkside. However, true light side followers, recieve 3 points on their first mission after the Tier Academy mission, to show the lightside is definitely "stronger" it just takes more time and patience. or something like that to actually show the progress of one down the path of a jedi or a Sith.

Thanks for listening to me. :)

I could have sworn the only thing he said was this:
Luke: Is the dark side stronger?
Yoda: No! No....quicker, more seductive.

I think it was indicative of styles, to my interpretation, that the same strength of force knowledge an ability can be acquired much faster through rage and anger...through the feeding of emotions, but in the "long" run, (ie yodas 900 years of existence) the lightside would always prevail as "unlimited" in strength, it just took dedication. *shrug*

tis a minor point to me. :)

They TOUCH upon this mind you with the split in paths, but they did it TOO LATE in the game. if they would have done what you suggested, the darkside ending would have made more sense. Instead, it looked to me that my character just hijacked a Star Destroyer and everyone just said "Ok, here ya go."

If they would have made a point in the game, say after the second tier level, where you can join Tavion and leave the JA and turn to the Dark Side, it would have been better. Then, in the ending, the Star Destroyer would make sense.

What would have been EVEN COOLER is if once you turned to the Darkside, that you could turn back to the light in the end.

OR....

If you chose the lightside the first time around, you inevitably gained Kyle and Luke's trust. There would then be a SECOND time around (it would be at the point where you can choose to return to the lightside if you are already dark) where you can go dark AGAIN, and if you take it, YOU resurrect Ragnos and it's up to the combined pwrs of the Jedi left at the Tomb to stop him while you make your escape to the familiar and now abandoned Star Destroyer to live to fight another day. That would have been COOLER.

But alas, what can you do? This is what we were given to use. Maybe a mod can do some of the things I said.

Overall, I hope what I said made sense. :)
