What is wrong with this generation of modders?

What in the seven hells is wrong with these people? Forgive the sweeping generalization, because you're not all bad, but today's generation of modders is just a bunch of self-centered crackpots.

Only a real idiot would call someone trying to help them arrogant. Seems like nobody can admit they need help these days, and rather than doing so they would rather flame anyone trying to help them improve. People accuse me of thinking I know everything, which I find astonishing when they think they know exactly what I am going to suggest to them... and they're wrong. I don't know everything, and I would never presume to suggest I do. However I do know more than almost everyone here, and those that know more than me are already doing their part to help. So for God's sake suck it up and accept help when it's given. We don't get anything out of helping you, and if you keep throwing assistance back in our faces like it's garbage it won't be given anymore.

What I also find amazing is when newer modders call more experienced modders selfish for not wanting to help them in their elaborate never-going-to-get-finished not-thought-out mods. Why on Earth should I feel obligated to join someone's total conversion when it's not even about a topic I enjoy? Yes, you know who you are. I welcome the "discussion" on this matter if you want to crawl out of your hole and defend yourself, considering you weren't even polite enough to introduce yourself on MSN. And you called me rude . Seriously. What is it with modders today feeling like modellers (and mappers, and scripters, etc etc etc) are obligated to do whatever they want us to? People want me to make player models for them. I suck at player models. A lot. Yet if I say "no", for whatever reason, I'm selfish. Go figure. Why should I feel required to make something that doesn't interest me in the least? Maybe when people start paying me.

When I came to this forum last March I didn't know squat about modding. Maybe a little about skinning. Everything I know I learned from the experienced modders who were here last year, most of whom have been driven away by the greedy, self-absorbed childre who pretend like they own this place. "Make me this! Make me that? No? YOU SUCK! You OWE me a model! I hate you!". Who are you to presume you deserve something? Go learn some skills for yourself and quit mooching off of us. We have lives too, and they don't revolve around you. I give immense prasie to those that went out and tried to learn something for themselves when their requests were not filled. You guys are the true next generation of modders.

Those who ask questions, accept advice and constructive criticism, and don't expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter are truly the ones who will inherit the JA modding community's admiration. Even the people who learn from their past behaviors are among the "chosen". The rest of you need to grow some brain cells. You're calling us selfish and arrogant? Go look in the mirror. We don't believe we deserve something for nothing. All we think -- we know -- we deserve is a little respect, if for nothing other than putting up with you.

I agree with you completely, and unfortunately it doesn't end there either.

You get some of these kids onto a server and they complain that grapple is instant, regen isn't instant, cry cry cry. They beg for admin, they beg for NPC spawnings, they beg for weapons.

Just do what I do. Laugh at them. Point out that without giving something they can get nothing in return.

Also, have you meantioned to them that you have no interest in their project?
If so, perhaps refer them to someone who might. If you can think of no one, wish them the best of luck and point out topics of interest that would assist them on their journey.

And a note to all you whiners and complainers.

You do come off as selfish little snots. It makes you come off sounding like an ill-bred human being, and from my personal perspective it makes me think that your parents did an aweful job in raising you to be people. But what can you expect with the parents being the way they are these days. They toss their kids infront of countless video game systems to shut them up, instead of back handing them like they should.

Just remember to know your place when you ask for help. You are the one's who are in need. Those whom you are asking are more than likely busy in some aspect of cyber or real life events. If they say yes, then it is YOU who owe them. If they say no, thank them for their time and move on.

Sure, I don't say "no, go away". Not in my nature.

Honestly I know no one who takes requests. Mostly because of this kind of behavior. And I don't blame them. Besides, after being called selfish I'm hardly willing to go out of my way to assist anyone.

I totaly understand what your saying but when you are raised a certain way and young in age they are like that.

I've seen alot of that here and on other forums but it all comes back to the way they grew up.

I'm not gonna stop giving help just because of some peoples immaturity.

I'm not either. I'm just going to restrain myself to helping those that deserve it and actually appreciate it.

I'm glad you decided that Inyri because I've seen the way you respond to (how you described) and think that's awsome.

'Tis the greatest flaw of modern times, children are growing up with no diciplin, demanding everything right now, explaining that they're entitled to something. There used to be a time when you'd be thanking someone for giving you the time of day, but no more. Who's fault is it? It's the fault of the socialists who try to make it the responsibility of the government to take care of everyone.

I HAVE noticed a lot more model requests latly. Know what? You want a model, go download milkshape and learn how to model. Itll help you more in the long run.

I wouldn't say that - now we'll have a flood of idiotic posts asking how to make player models in Milkshape 3D.

Which, as you may well know, you can't.

Ah. Guess that goes to show how much I know about player modeling.

What i ment by that was, dont be so quick to ask someone else to do something for you. Ask how you do it.
