I'm not anti-Duelers... This was a post I made in the Duelers forums but knowing Lee, he'll remove anything I post. My guess is, he doesn't really want the truth to be known, that's why he removes them. So, I am putting this copy of the thread out to let the truth be known because I don't want there to be any misconceptions. For those of you wanting to check out Duelers mod (which I do recommend, best server & client side mod for JK2 IMO) you can go to http://duelers.jk2files.com & get whatever you need. Quote:

Re: I'm not anti-Duelers... Way to f*g out, Lee. Marker has a point, and he just owned you. |
Re: I'm not anti-Duelers... that Lee-guy must really be annoying, esp. for Marker... hope he's get his rights  |
Re: I'm not anti-Duelers... I remeber when this stuff went down, sad to see it is still going on :( |
Re: I'm not anti-Duelers... The only thing that's sad here is people who aren't willing to share their work. Even to this day I'd be willing to share my stuff with him if he would share his work in OJP; But that will never happen. It's totally his loss. Things are coming along nicely for not only Cool Mods but the Open Jedi Project as well & neither one of the projects have room for selfish developers. I'm working on creating some new animations which will be a resource for coders to include in their mods (& possibly a client mod as well, not sure on that though), you think he's going to be permitted to use this? I also work with most of the modelers & coders out there, they all know the story, aside from a few coders, do you think any of them want to help him? He screwed himself over, not me. With Chosen One (JA/JAR coder), I can understand where he is coming from with not wanting to share his work to an extent. Alot of people took his mod, removed his name from all the credits, then tried to pass the mod off as theirs. Now when this kind of thing happens a few times, it starts to get to a point where it's not even worth putting out there publically. I do however think he should permit people to use the source code if he dealt with them more personally, to make sure that he wouldn't get screwed over. This is not the case with Lee, he's just doesn't want to share. He talks about "open source" but the only features he is willing to give up are the ones that no one wants & even if they did, it wouldn't be hard to figure it out on their own. Features like the animation pack & the non-interferance code are just too big of a thing to take away from all mods. Coders are going to disagree on the various other features, there's plenty of room for individuality. Anyways, enough of the rant. I have work to do. Cheers. |
Re: I'm not anti-Duelers... How is Cool mods coming along? |
Re: I'm not anti-Duelers... Slowly but surely. The stuff I have is just too cool man, this thing is going to rock the JK scene like a mountain; But the modeling portion of it is a halacious workload for just 1 person, so I am thinking about just getting the client side pack out, maybe even a server & client pack out, etc; etc. just to get people into it a bit, then do some hiring of staff. I did just hire a modeler not too long ago, plus I have some of the old Duelers staff joining mine, but we're still struggling to get this thing out the door. Now the animations pack is coming into play, I mean this just goes on & on. I am doing a system change of the LAN system here at the house, so that will keep me tied up for a week to 2 weeks or so. The release date was 6 months ago. The funny part about me leaving Duelers was, I had Duelers Full 1.0 all ready to go right before I left, installer & all. Now I've done so many additions, the old Duelers Full project can't hold a candle to this one. Anyways, I am hoping to have something for everyone within 2 months. I know it's a long wait but perfection takes time folks. I'm only 1 person & can only do so much. I should have the forums up by Wednesday & the website is already up & running. |
