Garry's Mod Server Problem

Hey guys, I've alyways had a problem with Garry's Mod in the fact that I can't host an "Internet Server". Apparently from what I've researched it's due to my router and that Port forwarding was needed.

Although I've taken all those techniques to account It was all done in a jumbled order so may I please have a step by step process of what to do? Here's the unsuccesful solutions I've attempted.

- Forwarding Different Ports (I'm not sure I did this right so I'll need help with that)
- Typing "sv_lan 0" or "Heartbeat" in console but still the server stayed as a LAN

Much help would be gladly appreciated on this issue, it seems a lot of people have had a similar problem without a satisfying solution

P.S: I haven't checked to see if other Source games have worked, I'll re-edit post when I have..

What kind of server are you using? (listen, steam dedicated or stand alone dedicated) and what ports have you opened?

Well.. A listen server.. I don't really want a dedicated server.. And I've been using a website for opening ports but i don't think it helped..

Can u tell me what ports to open and how?? thanks

I think opening
27015 UDP and 27016 UDP
should be fine

How do you open up ports properly??

Well, first you have to figure out your router's IP. Typ that in your browsers adress bar. Then you should have an option called Port Forwarding or Virtual Sever or something. Put the ports and your computer's IP there and you should be fine. Make sure to save, if you have a save option or something on your router, because otherwise the router will forget it again.

Nope didn't work My IP address wasn't responding so i typed in my default gateway address instead it went into a plce for opening up ports for the UDP but it didn't rly work..

I don't know man, maybe you should try a dedicated.. And if you don't want that, I really don't know what's wrong with your listen server.. everythings seems to be okay.

!!! READ VERY IMPORTANT!!<-ANSWER

I created an account here just to tell you, and everyone lese since this is first response on a google search

I HAVE THE SOLUTION!! I struggled for a year, bought new routers but in the end, I found the answer and almost shot myself.
1. Go here What Is My IP Address? - IP Address Lookup, Internet Speed Test, IP Info, plus more Trust me I'm goin somewhere with this.
2.copy and paste IP (don't care where) and :27015 at the end.
3.Then add connect before that. should look like this (connect ##.##.##.##:27015)
(please don't be retarded the # represent the numbers)
4.Give this code to somebody and have them put it in console ~
5.After that it'll show up and other people will join...ENJOY!!!

You still have to have your ports forwarded 27015 UDP/TCP. And thats it. The hell is over.
