LAN servers restricted to class c?

I have been playing HL2DM off and on for a while now with some online friends. Now for some reason when i stasrt a server and they try to connect, they get a connection error. I dont have the exact error message but from what they have told me its something like "LAN servers are restricted to class c".

I thought it may have been a setting on my router but I doubt thats it because I can start a server using gary's mod and they can connect with no problem. I tried uninstalling the mod, game and even steam to start over. Still get the same error. The strangest part is why can they connect to the server when we play Gary's mod but not to HL2DM?

BTW I know ist not the mod because I tried setting up a server before installing the mod after doing a clean install of HL2DM. Still no luck.

Any suggestions?

as i no of to fix that in your console you type
sv_lan 0
that will make your server a internet server not a lan server.

if you have a firewall or a route you may have problems of people connecting to you server so you will have to forward a port to you computer default port is 27015.
