| Skinning. It's the first step to becoming an accomplished developer. It's not as complicated as many people think at all. Here is a list of things you need to have before starting to edit skins:
STEP 1 Find the .vtf file that goes with the player in-game that you want to edit. Open it in VTFEdit, then export it to any directory you want as a .jpeg or .png file. Then open the picture file in your editor. The .vtf files are usually located in the directory "C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\Account Name\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\models\player" directory. Depending on which player model you want to skin, choose that folder, and find the .vtf file in it. ![]() STEP 2 Once in your editor with your future skin picture, choose a camoflauge pattern or design you want to go over it, and move it over the section you want to be that pattern. Don't worry, you can put a square pattern picture straight over it, and it will just wrap around the model, you don't need to shape it to fit the parts. If you want, you can also cut out parts of the pattern to expose pouches that are on by default, if you want to color them differently. (P.S. all the custom reskins that I show in examples are mine, and protected. Do not copy them) ![]() STEP 3 After you are done putting the design ontop of the parts of the model, and get it perfectly satisfactory to you, save it as a .jpeg or .png file, then go to vtf editor, import it, then save it as a .vtf. Now, you might want to go to your "C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\Account Name\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\models\player" directory and back up a copy of the origional .vtf file by renaming it for future editing. Now, cut or copy the saved .vtf file from VTFEdit to the folder where you got the origional .vtf file. For example, if i got it from "C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\Account Name\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\models\player\ct_urban", then I would put it there, and name it the default name, ct_urban. Then boot up the game and watch the magic. Here is a list of default names for .vtf files:
Just remember, all of the examples are protected, and they are mine. P0WN u l8r - -GoneRebel |
