Default Request for a Skin

Hi to all the modders of Half-Life 2!

I was wondering if it was possible to get the Gravity Gun look from Episode 1 into normal Half-Life 2. The way it looks metalic and shiny is not there in HL2. I would be grateful if someone can help.

If someone is going to say 'that's not possible because you need the Episode 1 shaders', don't bother, because I have got the Episode 1 shaders into Half-Life 2 successfully.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

What you are asking for has nothing to do with texturing.
The shiny effect is achived by all lighting effects and code implemented in Surce update. It can also possibly have different normal map, wich could be exchanged easily as far as it bases on same technologies. But can you explain me how you could get 'Ep1 shaders' into HL2 and what do you mean exactly? As far as I know the more natural lighting and shading is compleately different in Ep1 (due to use of HDR and just as an update) and it would require HL2 to be a bit recoded. But basically, effects wich you see ahve not much to do with the texture and everything to do with the programm.
I'm not an HL modder so I can't exactly tell what's possible here and what's not. I'm jsut guessing from my overal knowledge and some I know from Bf modding that it can't be done easily if at all.

Mmmmmn. I thought that that would be the case.

I mean that I got the Episode 1 shaders into HL2. Yes you don't get any Tone Mapping, but you do get better bloom around the lights, and the weapons in general have the shading of Episode 1. All the character skins have more shading points, so they look more realistic.

I can tell you exactly how to do it if you wish.

I think what you mean is that you got the normal maps from episode one to half-life 2. This is what makes for detail wich you see light reflections on and simulates unexisting polys.
But I'm compleately sure that you can't get the actuall new lighting technic into hl2 just on one weapon, and porting it overally into the game would require good knowledge gaphics technical stuff or porting all simple none coded stuff into ep1.

I am absolutely positive that I have the shaders from Ep 1 into HL2.

As far as I know, they're using same directx so why not? It's jsut the actaull ingame graphics technical programming wich is different.
If you could for example show me screenshot of same object/spot/item with and without the mod/addon/little change you're talking about I could knoe exactly what you mean (or as far as my knowledge into graphics technical stuff goes if that's the case).
