Gonarch's Lair Glitch?

ok, so i'm in Gonarch's Lair, and i'm near the last part of the level, i've gone through to the part where your supposed to chase the Gonarch down into the webbing, only when i jump down, the Gonarch doesn't run away like it should, instead. it attacks me, and usually kills very quickly, has this happened to anyone? and if so, how did you fix it?

If I remember correctly, you can kill Gonarch from above with grenades. Just toss a few below his belly sack and that should do the trick. It's been awhile since I played this game, but I think you can shoot it at the belly sack too. I believe I've used Gauss gun. Mind the kickback, though. The ground in the cave is slippery and Gauss gun has a nasty kickback. When you kill Gonarch, clear out the baby Headcrabs before jumping down. Unless you prefer whacking them with a Crowbar.

ah, i found the problem, i just didn't do enough damage to it the first time, thanks anyway

That's strange. As I recall, Gonarch won't run away until you do enough damage to him/her or whatever it is. Basically, Gonarch's behaviour is scripted, so you have to do certain amount of damage to him to make him run away into the cavern. If you're fast enough, you can run after him at shoot him as he runs away from you until he jumps down the webbing to his lair. But, the problem is solved, so nevermind.

your right, i didn't do enough damage to Gonarch the first time i played through, but i went back to the start of the level, and i hit that sucker with everything i had. and i got through it.
