well by the definition of hydrostatic if you mean causing expansion type damage by means of energy passing though mostly fluid mass then No, bullets dont cause that due to flesh being elastic in nature and returning to its natural form after a wave passes through. However, if you mean damage through ruptured organ and muscle walls through the rapid passage and compression and following expansion of flesh as a piece of metal tears through it at high speed than such damage DOES exist.

Look at the term permanent wound channel. This is the region immediately around the bullets passage that has become torn and rended from its natural contour and thusly WONT return to normal (promoting bleeding and mechanical damage). Blunt slow moving projectiles like large caliber pistol bullets expand upon this greatly.

I was under the impression that a .22 Magnum could do some serious damage as long as it was within its effective range like within a house. Personally I dont consider .22cal big enough but I would use it if that was all I had.

Maybe Hydroshock wasnt the word I was looking for.

Probably just as bad or worse would be one of those little .17 M2s with the plastic tipped V-Max projectile. The last thing I need are little bits of of copper, lead, and red plastic floating around inside of me!

In WW2 the E-tool was the preferred weapon for close combat by German soldiers and they were trained to use it as a weapon.

The USMC actually does E-tool fighting drills. The military generally issues the tri folding ones that are kinda worthless in the more unorthodox manner inwhich they can be employed. The European Bi folders or telescopers are sweet, specially the Glock one i own. The older US army ones with the folding pick are pretty nasty too
