Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) So, I was going through some stuff, and I found something I had forgot. I need help identifying some stuff, thats all: I know this is a German helmet of some kind, but what I need is the designation giving by the Germans? http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif http://img135.echo.cx/img135/4746/helmet1.jpg http://img135.echo.cx/img135/9445/helmet2.jpg German wound medals? http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif http://img135.echo.cx/img135/6842/woundmedals.jpg Unknown thing. Looks like some sort of guidance-stick for either cars or planes parking. Dont even know if this is WW2, just found it with the other things.http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif http://img135.echo.cx/img135/2241/stick1.jpg http://img135.echo.cx/img135/7788/stick2.jpg http://img135.echo.cx/img135/7793/stick3.jpg Ammo belt of some kind. Looks like some 7.62/7.92mm. Can anyone verify? Dont even know if this is WW2, just found it with the other things. http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif http://img135.echo.cx/img135/1365/ammobelt1.jpg http://img135.echo.cx/img135/5919/ammobelt2.jpg http://img135.echo.cx/img135/8416/ammobelt3.jpg I guess this is some sorta thing for a cigarette some prisoner in a camp made? http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif http://img135.echo.cx/img135/3395/pr...ette-thing.jpg ANY HELP WILL BE APRECCIATED! (dont let his turn into a "what ww2-things I have"-thread.) |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Update: Shows the comparable size of the cigarette holder. It must be it. http://img202.echo.cx/img202/1566/pr...ething28rz.jpg EDIT: Just found a much shorter belt (only 25 rounds compared to the 71 on the the other belt). I noticed that the metal-strips holding the rounds togheter is upside-down on this one...http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif http://img123.echo.cx/img123/4589/ammobelt49dl.jpg TOP TWO BELTS! THIS AMMO BELTS IS BEGGINING TO LOOK LIKE A FRAUD! |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) The medals are wound badges. you would resive it if you where wounded in action, the where black, silver and gold wound badges. Black Wound Badge: Wounded 1 or 2x by hostile action or air raid, or Wounded from frost-bite in the line of duty. Wound Badge in Silver: Wounded 3 or 4x by hostile action or air raid, or Loss of a hand or foot via hostile action, or Loss of an eye via hostile action, or Loss or partial loss of hearing via hostile action, or Brain damage via hostile action, or Facial disfigurement via hostile action. Wound Badge in Gold: Wounded 5 times or more by hostile action, or Total blindness via hostile action, or Severe brain damage via hostile action, or As a result of being killed in action Actully i have a ammo belt that looks like yours, so i would guess it's from a ww2 MG42.. if your real lucky that is. it's most lickly from a newer model of the MG42 like the MG3 (the norwegian troops use MG3's right?) left by, after an training exersice. The helmet looks like a Heer M1942 helmet |

And BUG$ told me that the ammo belts looks exactly what they look likes in the modern German Army, and I guess they are using the MG3 too. So it doesnt have to be an orginal WW2 ammo belt. http://forums.filefront.com/images/s...28frown%29.gif |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) BTW: I've read somewhere that it was given ~5 millions wound badges during WW2. How many of them were NOT the black one? In other words, how rare is the silver one? |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Jupp thats a ammo belt for the MG3. Used it enough to recognice it :) |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Takk skal du ha! But do you know if the exactly same one were used on the MG42? |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Quote:
ohh and the guidance-stick there could be ww2.. atleast i saw one being used to direct the german forces in a video clip of the invasion of denmark. so where do you have all this stuff from? |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Well. I got it from my grandfather a long time ago. Back then I wasnt that much interested in WW2, so after "playing" with it for a while I put it in a cardboard box and set it away under the stairs. Yesterday (after reeding numerous posts about what ww2-things you have) I remembered I had some myself, and today I found it! My grandfather either found it during the war, or right after it, in Narvik, and gave it to me, together with an German gas mask which I cant find yet. The guidance-stick in Anlushacs words: "I want to belive it were used by German MPs, but its hard to tell". He also said that since it could be folded down, it could be perfect to put on an MC (which the MP used alot). EDIT: BTW! According to Lexikon der Wehrmacht, the badge on the helmet (which Anlushac, BUG$ and myself identified as an M35/42) was used by both the Heer and the Kriegsmarine. Anyone know how to further see differnces between Heer & Kriegsmarine helmets? Maybe the color makes its an Heer helmet? http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) well most Kriegsmarine helmets where painted battleship grey to macth the ship.. your helmet looks more like a greenis/black color, so as i said in my first post, my guess would be it's a Heer M1942 helmet. |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) According to this, it seems like an M35/40, since the inside is completly different in the M35/42! :o But the ventilation holes seems like the M35/42! Maybe an M35/42 with the inside of an M35/40? :| |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) I still need help! The helmet is either a M35-40 or an M35-42 from the Heer. Can anyone with some gun-skills point out if that ammo belt is for 7.92mm or 7.62mm rounds? MG34/42 or MG3? And that signal thingy? Can anyone else recognice it from WW2? |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) the helmet is a M42, you can tell by the rolled out flared edges, as well as the look of the vent hole... nice items you have there buddy :naughty: |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Quote:
The design is different than on mine, and that means mine is either not a german from WW2, or just another design! :uhm: Takk skal du ha, min danske venn! :) |

Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Well. I measured the length of the empty shells. They were 57mm long, and while 7.62mm NATO ammo is 51 (or was it 52?)mm long, I think it means that they are 7.92mm German rounds, since they orginaly were 57mm long! :D |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Remove the leather helmet insert and look for a forged stamp inside and post what you find or take a pic of it if you find it. |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) The first helmet looks like a reproduction, especially because of the liner. |
Re: Need help identifying some stuff I found (WW2) Quote:
My Grandfather gave it too me. Had found it in Narvik (where he lives). My grandfather has never lied to me, nor has he ordered things over the internet, therefore I doupt its an reproduction. Care to tell whats wrong with the liner? After what picture I have found on the internet, it pretty much looks the same. And the numbers inside the helmet: Its very hard to see, but I think its saying: EF6 2971 There may be a number after the "6", but I'm not sure. And the "71" is hardly noticeable. What does the numbers means? http://forums.filefront.com/images/s.../confusedx.gif |
