really, ww1 started a chain of events leading up to ww2 and possbly the cold war. gremany, defeated, was forced to sign that Treaty-thingy.that angered germans. electing hilter, hilter crazyness leading himto invade poland, and BAM! WW2!

Yes, it pretty much contributed to WW II. That is pretty ironic since it was supposed to be "the war to end all wars"

WWII was very much started by the great war. the simple conection is the sanctions inposed on germany bankrupted the country which in turn caused the rise of the national socialists.

Yes, i would say the First World War was a cause of the Second World War. When Germany was defeated, they were forced into bankruptcy and huge amounts of inflation. Then along came someone named Adolf Hitler, who told the Germans he would rise them back up into a superpower. They listened.

Its amazing how Hitler turned a bankrupt country into a force that threatened the entire world. Domestically speaking, he was pretty damn good at what he was doing.

I came across an interesting question awhile back, "what changes to the Versaille Treaty could have been changed to ensure that WW1 was the war to end all wars?"

I started by:
1- not putting all the blame on Germany,
2- not taking any land away from germany that they had started with before the war, 3- allowing russia and germany and russia to be in the League of NAtions,
4- and recquiring Germany to only pay war reparations for Neutral Belgium, which they did bring into the war-not for every bit of damage suffered in the war

Hiltler would not have been pissed off, germany would not have been morally, economically and politically ruined

Yes because everyone thought Germany had to pay for what they did, and Germany didnt.

So Hitler went to blow up the world because he thought Germany didnt have to pay for everything destrioed...

Hitler was a Disgruntled WWI Veteran who wanted to redeem Germany by creating a new Riech, and ended up starting WWII.

Things in history tend to be linked to another. For example, George Washington's firing on the French before the French/Indian War was what started it, and the French and Indian War's debts caused the taxing of the American Colonies, which led to the Revolutionary War, which led to the constitution, which led to the question of slavery's legality, which led into the Civil War, and on and on and on.

Treaty of Versailles, the fear of communism, new countries with unstable democracy, the rise of fascism & other forms of it, "Black Friday" in 1929. All these contributed to the start of the Second World War.
