First of all, you are walking a very fine line. Crack is the wrong word. Illegal things are not to be discussed on these forums. So we shall not use the word.

Second, it is a lot more complicated than changing a few settings.

As you can see, these guys are claiming to be able to do it, but I think they will be stopped fairly soon.

Thumbs up

Thank you,I know that this word shouldn't be used, sry.
I know the Alkalyproject and that they wanted to make Vista Games work on XP but I wanted a more direct an easier answer.

From that what I read from your post from the links:should I wait untill the late July?

I have followed all that constructions 1 week ago and I almost got crazy!!!!!!
My PC got more then 10GB from all this SH** .sry-.-

I exchanged XP DLLs with Vista dlls but nothing worked.

HALO2 ERROR :
(German) : Der Prozedureinsprungspunkt "CreateProcessWithTokenW" wurde in der DLL "advapi32.dll" nicht gefunden.

Translate from me: The procedure entrance piont "CreateProcessWithTokenW" was not found in DLL "advapi32.dll".

I made a Virtual PC with Vista, but with 2 Windowes my PC is to slow.

I have 1GB-Ram(I will buy soon 1GB extra), 3,8GHz dual-core ,256MB grafix card , 160GB Memory place and a very good sound-card.

I have Halo(1) and I love that game!
1 or 2 years ago I played with my friends Halo2 on XBox.It was....arg! cool! and it was very good, now I want/will! play it only for me on PC!

Microsoft Windows is not fair an Vista is the most user unfriendly system I know!I Hate it!

Now I wrote a history not a post-.-

It depends. If you want to play H2V, then you should get it. However, bear in mind that the system requirements are enormously high and that the OS needs to be bought. It costs money, and quite a bit of it to upgrade to H2V. And this is all for a currently mediocre port of the game. If you want my advice, I would wait for about 1/2 a year to a year and then upgrade your PC to whatever is needed as prices will be lower and the community will have edited and improved the H2EK and the whole game to a good standard. Thats not to say don't do it, but I would beware of the costs of doing so. What are your PC's specs?

Okay there................
1.MS will not take too kindly to someone converting H2V to xp.
2.I doubt this is legal
3.You will have to convert to vista sooner or later, one way or another.
4.H2V has high system requirements, the graphics are crap, yet it's a system hogger. My ATi x1300 pro would be getting 20 FPS in the game with all settings set to low
5.The game's editing kit is bullshit
6.Let me think of more reasons

well... it's perfectly legal for them to do something like this... as long as they don't sell it to the public... and as for the poor performance, it's not neccesarily halo 2 that dragging itself down, but more so vista being a resource hog and dragging the computer down with it... M$ always has a way of trying to be "innovative" and messing it up along the way. We already have one Apple, we don't need another... i personally, "came across" my own copy of vista just for this game and i have to say, it's horrible, my computer meets and exceeds all of the requirements for the game yet it does not run decently at all, i got online for one live match and i couldn't move due to graphic lag... I've also noticed that my computer's base score index has dropped a couple points in ranking for no reason. no hardware or software has been changed yet, it has dropped... leads me to believe that M$ is intentionally stunting our computer's speed and performance in an attempt to get us to buy new hardware as well...

Ok,thanks for the info.I know that Micro-shit wants that you should buy hardware only for their shit software.(sry for that bad words)
I am so angry on MS that I would send them a VIRUS!
But lets wait for people who work on that and make halo2 work on XP.I'm going to wait.

Too bad if they read the ELUA it says that making external apps for it are illegal, and because they use Live for online play, you couldn't play online. Plus, it would probably require some kind of Crack, because the CD key is checked online before you are aloud to install it.

I believe that what these guys are doing is actually releasing a set of alterations to make it XP compatable, not ripping it. You would still have to buy the game, thus getting an individual CD key and not losing M$ money, but you would be on XP. I may be wrong, but that was what I understood it to be.

I got past that error, I see that you actually changed absolutely NO DLL's because with Service pack 2 the first DLL which has a problem is Advapi32.dll, In case you didn't know (I'm not being egged on or anything) Windows likes to reset the DLL back to original as soon as you change a DLL in the Sys32 folder, meaning when you changed the DLL to Vista's, it was changed back the second you pressed Enter!

And to the guy who said sommat about registering Online before installation. Some people actually don't have the net so that would be stupid, in most game installers you can skip this UNTIL you wanna play online.

Thanks for reading, if you did! And Stormtrooper, since you have Vista, can you send me a copy of NTDLL.dll, it's one of the DLL's which I can't find on the net, as I said I got past the Advapi error, meaning it IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!

Email: threemoo@gmail.com, please send a copy of Vista's NTDLL.dll if you want Halo 2 for XP (well, installer anyways)!

Thanks in advance

The game only allows you to play in Single Player on the first level if you do not activate the CD key. Activation can be done by phone so the internet is not needed. You must activate the key to allow the whole SP campaign and MP.

I'm sorry, but you cannot request that. In the absence of Zamamee (our section mod who is away), I have to tell you that that is not legal, therefore not acceptable on this site. It directly conflicts with the EULA of windows Vista:

Sos for Double post but, I just wanna say, anyone who is thinking of changing DLL's, it's best you dont because nearly all DLLs in windows rely on other DLL's. eg. Kernel32.dll requires NTDLL.dll, and NTDLL.dll requires Kernel32.dll! if one is changed, the other probably wont work!
