| Lol an 9600 XT will not handle the game, good job on getting the game, only to find your graphics card is inadequate. Read the system specs people.

| Usually, Im morally against this sort of thing but if you have written this program to not hack H2V in anyway, then you may have just saved me from spending over £300 on Vista again. What I would like to know is, IF (and I use that term lightly, still not sure about this program) I install this to run H2V, how will affect other programs in Windows XP (IE, older games, basic XP functions etc)? I think my specs are high enough but from what I hear, H2V is still a major rescource hog. Specs: Windows XP Home Pentium 4 3.06ghz Processor X1900XTX 512 Radeon Card 1GB DDR2 Ram

| Only the process (and any child processes) started using Loader.exe will be affected. There are no permanent changes made, nothing is stored in the registry, written to disk and so on. It loads the specified process and wraps the functions needed around it, once the process is unloaded, so are the wrappers. |

| I have a feeling that a large part of what makes the game such a resource hog is the underlying operating system -> Vista. If you're running it in XP - which I've gotten to run on about 120 mb and still be functional - you might have better luck. The same may be said for the amount of vid ram too and other sys requirements that are needed to run the operating system itself. I don't know that that is the case, but I plan to try out the game to find out exactly what will work. I have a 7900 GS with a 64 bit amd athlon which runs pretty much everything I play flawlessly -- short of BF2 on all high (need more ram) and Oblivion on all high. My point is merely that the fact that we can now run it on a less demanding operating system throws the entire validity of the sys requirements into question. Unfortunately, I don't know a lot about the ATI cards since I haven't really used them much... (switched from Voodoo in the early days straight to nVidia. ATI customer and product support sucks ass.) To continue the dropping xp arguement (albeit I can't remember exactly what was said after reading through all the comments and am too lazy to look back) XP's demise doesn't depend on Microsoft's support. I mean really, think about it. Even if they stop updating it via updates it is still several years ahead of Vista in terms of bugs found. XP is still a viable operating system because of it. So as long as most of the core market for computers is still on XP, software companies will continue to support the operating system via backwards compatibility. Gaming as well to an extent though I do agree not as long as other companies. Halo 3 was just a lame attempt to push their beta OS. I loved a comment I heard earlier about how someone is already hoping the next mysteriously codenamed Windows operating system is better because it's supposed to have a revolutionary new GUI and core. That's what Microsoft has been promising with every iteration of windows since the demise of 98. Yet when you take off all the purdy colors they all look exactly the same even with a couple of core changes. ![]() Oh and can't wait to try out those runtime environments... should be interesting. |

| hmm i seem to be gettign the same problem, Halo 2 loads up up to the Halo 2 logo/loading screen then it stops, goes black and quits to desktop with my resolution going to 800x600 from 1024x768. I've ran Halo 2 Vista Before on Windows Vista with all settings on High but no Anti Aliasing and it runs smooth. but i have decided to go back to XP because of some incompatabilities with games/older programs etc. I installed Halo 2 fine with the loader, i think i installed XLiveRedist1.0.6027.msi by Repair and it installed the files asking me to reboot, i done that and then installed vcredist.exe and yeah. My system specs: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.2ghz Asus Radeon X1600pro 512mb 1024MB DDR 400 Ram 300GB Harddrive Good work on the loader so far Abcba, i'd hug you if i could but is there perhaps a possible solution? Thanks in advance |

| @Rads & Anger07: I've made a special build for you to help determine what's going wrong: WowLoader-DBG.rar The usage is the same but this build will create a file named Trace.log in your Halo 2 installation directory. Do a single run with the new build, then paste the Trace.log contents on pastebin or similar and either post or pm me the link. |
