| I hate to tell you this, but I find it interesting that the game's requirements (RAM-wise anyway) are the same as the requirements for Vista. Could it be that Vista needs so much memory that they had to knock up the requirements for the game itself. Mic said it himself the visual quality of the game isn't that great. Once the DX10 drivers come out for XP (google it, I was shocked, too) I can get this game to run on my computer (which is middle of the road by today's standards) without shelling out a dime for Vista) Mic, you don't seem like a bad guy, but not everyone here can shell out the ridiculous price for the Vista OS -- especially not until it becomes a stable system. I'm just not willing to suffer through all the incompatibility issues to play the one game on the market that is actually supposed to work on Vista. Also, Vista isn't going to overtake XP for some time. The only company making software exclusively for Vista IS Microsoft because they can afford to turn their back on 98% of their market base and obviously they aren't too happy with the results of that approach either, or they wouldn't be porting DX10 to XP. Basically, stop telling everyone to go out and get it. It's not yet a viable option for 80% of the market and the only people getting a deal on the OS are those buying computers that come with it. As with anything electronic, you can get pretty much anything you want if you're willing to wait. (Saves you money and heartache in the long run.) |

| Okay who's Mic? It's true that XP is still the dominant OS here, even though MS will stop supporting it in a year or so, but you'll still have to upgrade sooner or later because soon all games will be exclusively for windows vista. MS is greedy, I know. Vista sucks, I know. BUT, most gamers in the world are using Windows, so we don't have a lot of choice on the matter. It's like MS is controlling these days, like they are with the pathetic XBOX live crowd.

| Well I agree with you that they will probably drop support just like they did for previous iterations of Windows. And gaming does force you to keep yourself on the bleeding edge (or at very least the hilt) of the gaming sword. I just say it may be worth it to keep finding workarounds until the first service packs come out and companies get on the ball to update the drivers. I think it's funny though that the major companies that supported Apple never had this much trouble with the switch to OS X which was equally drastic if not moreso than the XP to Vista one. (I'm fluent with both Mac and PC interfaces so I can compare the two.) And I'm not just talking about the mac only shareware companies I mean major companies that supported dual compatibility between Mac and PC. Also I apologize for the name mix up bud... I scanned over and read it wrong |

| What do you mean probably? They will drop support on it like they do with every previous OS, Vista will will one day be obsolete, too. I only pray that Windows Vienna will be more revolutionary than Vista, considering MS said it would have a new type of UI. Seems that MS don't like to innovate, shown by the xbox 360.

| Tsk..........Isn't there a rule in this forum for advertising illegal crap? Now that Zam seems inactive, the halo forum being pretty rampant. Wish there was someone who's a mod cough sunray cough could help me here.

| First off, the files provided in the link are not illegal. They merely provide the vista functionality the game requires to be present. Second, I fail to see how it's crap. If you're implying that it's not working, then you're wrong: screenie |

| A little addendum to the installation instructions, in case anyone's been having problems.. Once you've installed Halo 2, you need to install: XLiveRedist1.0.6027.msi and vcredist.msi from the \redists dir on the Halo 2 DVD. Also, you need to be logged in with an administrator account for Loader.exe to work, since it uses privileged API's. Let me know if you run into any problems. |
