I'm following the steps but I keep getting the error.
Is it okay that I'm mounting it?

Edit: I tried again same thing. Once the Startup thing comes up I got to customize game install. then install full don't start then it closes out.

OK, dude here's somethings you need to know before you start this:

I HAVEN'T GOT IT OPEN YET BUT I KNOW WHY!

1. You HAVE to have Service Pack 2 (that's what I need, I'm Downloading right now!)

2. You need .NET Framework 2.0 according to the readme's.

Is there any error when it closes?
Tell me, I might be able to work it out!

If you have all this, try Re-Installing certain things like Direct-X, or maybe even try installing that XLive thing, it might change sommat!

Remeber, I haven't actually got round to opening it coz I aint got Service Pack 2, so I'm not exactly the best guy to be telling you all this, but hey, why not try it!

Yeah and one more thing, the guy who made the loader did exactly what I did!, but I didn't think it was working because of an error, I DON'T HAVE SP2! You guys would've had this on XP a week before this loader came out!

Doesn't run as good as I'd hope to be but I am using my laptop after all cheers again for your efforts abcba.
I put the file xinput9_1_0.dll obtained of Oct2005_xinput_x86.cab in \windows\system32 and halo2 dir, later, i put the file xinput9_1_0.dll obtained of Oct2005_xinput_x64.cab in \windows\SysWOW64.
The crash persists.

Yes is would but if you have an old graphics card, you might not have a PCI-E slot. If you go to start and run, type in "dxdiag" without "s and go to display. Under chip type it should say PCI, AGP or PCI-E. You can only buy the graphics card that fits the slot that you have.

Darn. I have a "ATI Radeon® 9550 128MB AGP" that probley is really bad. So thats why it lags alot? lol

Edit: also, has anyone gotten xbox live to work. I try and login, but I don't have a keycode since I am only trying this as a expirement like most of you. I just want to see how far we can go with it in xp.

Unhappy about chris's error

we gotta start somewhere with this,so i'll go first:
go to microsoft update.select all the .NET framework fixes.you need to have: >NET framework 1.1,.NET framework 1.1 Hotfix ,.NET 2.0 and the latest one: .NET 3.0
second phase: remove any crap you may have installed wich might have anything to do with : Visual C++ video drivers (if,for example ,you had installed Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare-it came with Aegia PhisX drivers, wich when you uninstalled the game, they remained.any sh*t you see there and don't use, uninstall it.then run a registry mechanic.i actually use registry mechanic to clean-up any remaining debris there.
third of all, right click on My Compyter and seein properties-hardware-device manager see each column if it has a yellow circle with a white exclamation mark.if so,reply with what you found.it might as well be a hardware conflict...who knows?
that being said, let's move on:go to isohunt.com and search for halo 2 XP refixed & working.
do exactly each step you see there.
...go to those adresses in the how to.txt wich reffer to direct x(there are 3 of them)and install them in the order they appear on that page.after installation, restart your computer, even if it doesn;t say so.
now you will have the backbone of the installation.
start the loader.exe thry cmd.exe and type Y:\.....\loader.exe "X:\,,,\halo2.exe"
type everything, event what i inserted into the comma's(PSL y and X are the letter for the drive you have the files on,get it ? )
it should run
aftes you select custom install-full,don;t run
you probably should get a message saying that your video adapter's driver is out of date.do not press anything else other than the button saying RUN. it did stop for me also a few times there,so it's a knows issue.if it crashes again, try the loader with the contents of the folder named "c-windows-system32" and copy that dll to YOUR exact windows folder.MAKE SURE it's inside system32
not outside of it or inside who-knows-what file .try the installer again.
it should work.now.it this doesn;t helo.....sorry...i;m too tired to solve this problem another way.

Takatsuki, same thing: go to my torrent on isohunt ( http://isohunt.com/download/21949193/halo+2+XP )and follow step-by-step.it shoud work.
