How do I activate the game?
I beat the first level but then it says to insert the disk to activate it. I put the disk in, but now what?

I'm getting the same problem as other peeps! It locks up, then shoots me back to my desktop with 800x600 resolution! Please, someone who can code, fix it! This is my log file:

I don't know why on earth this is doing this but please help! I own Vista and H2V, but it runs like crap on Vista, so XP use would be most enjoyable.

you need to read.
it says close the game then insert the disk.
if you did this and nothing happens you need to re-run the setup file from the disk.it should then hopefully do the activation. i wouldnt know if this is correct because i cant make it work yet but thats the way im understanding this.

Hey everybody,

I have been busy all evening and this morning trying to fix the razor-1911 on my computer and making it work. Thanks for all the information and instructions posted on the net for so far.

However, I have installed the entire with help of the info on the net and have come so far as to launch the game with the msdos screen. Unfortunately when I launch the game, I do not even come close to the Bungie screen.

The Loader with Halo 2 with the light flash moving from the left to the right, stops halfway and then the Game crashes.

Windows XP asks me wether or not to sent a crash report to Microsoft. I have tried it four times already and the second time the loader almost reached the right side of my screen but unfortunately... crashed again.

I have read through all the pages on this forum and I noticed some people have been having similar problems.

Does anybody have found a fix or an explanation for this ?

My specs aren't up to date (unfortunately), but I decided to post it anyhow as people with better equipment also seemed to be having the problem:

- Radeon 9600 Pro 128 mB
- Intel Celeron CPU 2,80 GHz (2,81 working)
- 512 mB RAM

In case my computer is NOT compatible due to my processor, RAM memory or video card, what am I ought to do? Would buying another 512 mB solve the problem?

You need to upgrade your video card and RAM. Processor should be fine. 1Gig of RAM is minimum, 2 reccommended. As for graphics card, you probably want an ATI radeon x1xxxx or above or an Nvidea 7 series. Those will run the game well. The minimum is an ATI x700 or Nvidia 6 series, but they give poor results.

the RAM should not prove a problem, I am going to buy another gB just to make the computer somewhat more compatible on the whole.

Is the Video Card update a necessary (evil ) one or could I just play the game with this card and 1512 mB of RAM?

When I had vista installed i used ati radeon 9600, And the games performance ran seamlessly, I had all of the settings turned low. Supposable, these high computer requirements has to do with the fact that we are suppose to be running a bloated opperating system (Vista) while we are playing halo. Try Updating your Video card at ATI's Site. This update allowed me to get farther on the halo 2 startup crash, before it crash.

For the people that have halo 2 crash at startup, what is your hardware specs. I think, it might be certain graphics drivers, and or sound drivers messing with the halo 2 startup.

No, I get the same crash and I'm sure this is not hardware related. The way the game is crashing tells you it's a software/driver conflict.

My specs are Core Duo T2250 1.8Ghz, Geforce 7400 Go, 1GB RAM. (HP Laptop)

I've already tried changing video drivers which had no effect unfortunately. Not sure about sound drivers since I've only got onboard Conexant audio. I've even tried uninstalling my mouse drivers (and using no mouse too).

I can also confirm like some other guys here that I can get to the "Press any key to continue" screen when the game is not in focus (window mode), and as soon as you get it in focus it crashes.
