Run Halo 2 on XP

i can not run the loader.exe. when i click on loader.exe it starts(the window pops up and then it dissapears).it does that on both my pc's.Can anyone help me please....when you say in administrator mode what do you mean?

you need to either make a batch file to launch it or do it from the command prompt. the instructions are in the readme that comes with the loader.

Cursed Halo 2 window still wont stay open with drivers for the mouse and keyboard

Im having the same problem as alot of people, i got the Debug 3.0 and instead it gave me these errors in a window called ERROR, it gets midpoint in the HALO 2 loading screen with the pretty white light flashing by.. then it crashes to this ERROR screen with the same error as another guy

however i get even farther with this version - it gets to the screen directly after the halo2 screen. this may be because those popups (error boxes) take focus away from the halo window allowing it to continue.

I've spend about as much time on this project as I think the game is worth.
What started out as a quest to expose the true nature of H2V's exclusiveness has now turned into a support nightmare.
I'm placing the source code into public domain in the hope that someone more passionate about halo will go the extra mile.
To the ones who werent fortunate enough to get it to work, I'm sorry.

Aww.. i hate Microsoft.. they took a great series and ruined it by forcing people to use Vista just to play it Once again Microsoft shits on us all with their bullshit "Exclusive game" I hope they die. They ruined bungies great game and turned it into nothing.

Installation Instructions:
1) Extract the archive.
2) Insert the Halo 2 DVD
3) Run Startup.exe on the Halo 2 DVD using the included Loader.exe
Ie.: Loader.exe D:\Startup.exe(START-RUN-CMD.....ie.:Loader.exe D:\Startup.exe)
4) Install the game.
5) Install XLiveRedist1.0.6027.msi and vcredist.msi from the \redists dir on the Halo 2 DVD.
6) Copy the following files into the directory you installed Halo 2:
dwmapi.dll, mf.dll, MFPlat.dll
7) Finished. To play the game, run halo2.exe using the included Loader.exe
Ie.: Loader.exe "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe"(START-RUN-CMD.....ie.:Loader.exe"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe"
8) Workaround for playing rest of game found!!!!!

Everyone who can't activate now can! Not really but on the same border.

1. Take the Loader version of MF.DLL and place it into you WINDOWS\system32 folder (ie.. C:\WINDOWS\system32\)

2. Take RZR1911 version of MF.DLL and place it into your Halo 2 folder (ie.. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\)


Notes:
You need to be logged in with an administrator account for Loader.exe to work, since it uses privileged API's.
Currently the code for playing the intro and credits movies is unimplemented,
so if you want to see them you'll have to play them yourself (they're located in \movie).
I haven't tested the online functionality of the game, it will probably need more attention.
