| holy shit rads is right. wow so close now. i think it has to be to do with the input - as soon as the window has priority it crashes. however while taskman is loaded and highlighted the game runs merrily in the background. Last edited by Anger007; June 23rd, 2007 at 04:35 AM.. |

| perhaps the startup.exe and the halo2.exe should be put in the loader.exe with a stable dll . Perhaps some script should help?

| I've extended the trace build to include information about DirectInput calls. It won't fix anything but it should give an error code to investigate, if the problem is input related. Get the new version here: WowLoader-DBG-0.3.rar I'm still looking into the activation issue. |

It's supposed to create an DirectInputDevice object for handling the mouse. This is definitely either a software or driver conflict on your system. Do you have mouse drivers/software installed? If yes, try updating, if that doesn't work try uninstalling. If no, try installing the latest version. |

| Has anyone experienced this behaviour - so I intalled the game with the loader, followed everything to the letter and then used the loader to launch the game. I got to the 1st cutscene and while i was watching it crashed to the desktop let's say mid film. Then I tried it again to check if the same thing would happen and now the game crashed before the middle of the cutscene, some 20secs earlier. But then I tried it a 3rd time and I made it all the way past the movie and started playing thru the initial part of the game, calibrating the movement and all. It went on till the part where u get the guns and join the other characters when that covenant ship is coming and bam new crash to the desktop. So what I'm saying is that I've experienced 3 crashes so far all in different places. What on earth could be going on... |

| ok with this loader i get several new errors. the first error is: the following unimplemented function was called: CMFTopologyNode::SetUnknown() next one is also unimplimented CMFMediaSource::GetObject() however i get even farther with this version - it gets to the screen directly after the halo2 screen. this may be because those popups (error boxes) take focus away from the halo window allowing it to continue. below is the part of the trace log before the crash: Code: Jun/23/06 20:33:43 [2100:2124] CKnownFolderManager::GetFolder() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:43 [2100:2124] CKnownFolder::GetPath(00008000) (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:43 [2100:2124] CKnownFolder::Release() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:43 [2100:2124] CKnownFolderManager::Release() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:46 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:47 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:47 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:48 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:49 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:49 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:50 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:50 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:50 [2100:2124] CMMDevice::GetState() (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:51 [2100:2124] Exception at: 0046230E (C0000005 (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:51 [2100:2124] Exception at: 00462314 (C0000005 (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:51 [2100:2124] Exception at: 00462315 (C0000005 (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) Jun/23/06 20:33:51 [2100:2124] Exception at: 0046230E (C0000005 (from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe) |
