Run Halo 2 on XP

I have an idea what the problem could be.
I added some safeguards to prevent the loader from just loading into any process.
Activate.exe does not contain any missing imports and doesn't import any dll's that does, therefor the loader skips it.
I'll try to think of a better way to go about it when I have some more time.

Also I would like to note, I tried to circumvent the activation screen by applying a halo2 vista activation crack, replacing the MD.dll (32kb) with a edited (4kb) version, now halo will start up and shortly freeze and or crash. This may be the case for a lot of people out there reporting instability without them even knowing the cause.

Anyway you could remove that bit all together? I am fairly sure if you do, Shadowrun will work. It does the same shit halo 2 does to prevent it from running in XP.

i had thought about this so as you cant uninstall the game i deleted it. fortunately for me halo reinstalls itself when the files are missing. now im getting slightly different results.
if i try and load the game via startup.exe i get an advapi error and then close.
if i try halo2.exe it does the same as before but SEEMS to get a little farther than before. this may be an illusion but it got past the L for the first time.
however i checked the log and yet again its the same error.

the .net and the vdredist worked , however now I get another error msg : "This file is ran as part of the game, it will not start the game" any ideas? I can only hit OK : /

Tbh I think people are just applying the halo auth crack and it just does not work with halo2xp

as it worked perfectly fine before i tried adding the auth crack, so people shouldnt use a crack =)

.. reinstalled Halo 2, still got the same problems, i got .net framework 3.0, visual C++ 2005 redistributable, xlivegaming, still got same issues with the crashing to desktop and exception errors

Whoa! Okay this is very hard to explain, but i was toggling arround with the video settings in registry editor, i turned my screen size to 1024x768 so it didnt resize my screen to a lower resolution while playing, turned DisplayMode to "1", started Halo 2.

Started Halo 2, and before it got to the loading screen i opened task manager, and let Halo 2 load, it actually loaded up to the Halo 2 "Press any key to continue" screen.

But when i click FROM Task Manager back to Halo 2 it closes itself down.... very interesting, when i leave the DisplayMode to "0" it does the same error where it crashes while loading Halo 2 and back to desktop....

Perhaps that might help you abcba?
