I downloaded the 1.07 auto-patcher and updated the game. No difference. The water problem is still there.

Very odd...I've never seen anything like it, with neither nVidia or ATi.

Do take a look at the list of known issues on the Halo page.

The Typer May 7th, 2007 01:53 AM

I found out the problem is not just on Halo. I was playing Far Cry and found the same problem with the shadows, but not with the water. There is also a problem with bullet holes on my enemies in Far Cry. They stutter in appearance. I'll get screenshots in when I can.

I tried to find video issues on the site. No luck to what I am looking for. I just now thought about the question of if this is AGP Aperture related. I doubt it, but is it?

I very much doubt if it is. Are you 100% sure that you have the most up-to-date drivers:
Catalyst® 7.4 Display Driver for Windows XP Professional/Home Edition

Checked on the MS website and no issues are listed there and the only problems with the 9600 were with the 256Mb type and were not these issues. The card is also listed as compatable. Have you got another graphics card you could borrow to see if the card is definately the problem?

Edit: Wait, are you on Vista?

I am very sure, I check Tweakguides.com every month. And I went to that link to make sure, and in that link the words for the Software suite have turned purple therefore meaning I have been to that link.

All I found for my card were the problems you listed. No I do not think I can borrow any cards. The only cards we use in this house are 9600's, I do not know why either. And I doubt I could borrow one from a friend. I doubt it is my card anyways, it runs other games just fine. I've had it for about two years, that's it.

Heck no! I'm avoiding Vista until it is as smoothly running as XP (or near it) and DX 10 is in full use. Around that time I plan to build a computer worthy of running Crysis on high (or perfectly really).

Okay I'm going to upload the Far Cry shadow picture glitches. I'm sure I do not need to explain these.

Spoiler:

This is not an opening in the grate. The light is making the floor disappear in visual terms:

Look at the floor near the top-right corner in this one:

In the next two do not only notice the words, but also notice the way the lighting simply stops at the ending of the wall. The lighting normally fades away.

When I looks at this stuff the term "node graph" comes to mind. I do not know the first thing when it comes to node graphs but maybe you do. Would this stuff be related to node graphs in any way?

Thanks guys.

If you are talking about a new video card, I cannot get one. And like I said, my card is fine. It can run Source games without glitches or graphical errors on quite high graphics at nice framerates.

Have a play round with things like quality and specular. They shouldn't be a problem, but lower settings/higher settings may make a difference. They do with the 9800.

The Typer May 8th, 2007 01:34 PM

What do you mean?
I'm not looking to fix performance problems. The shadow glitch in Halo disappears when you turn off the shadows. But that is because the shadows that are messed up are mainly the ones that are moving shadows. Of course there is some other weird look to things when the shadows are turned on. But I just want to fix the water problem. I do not really care about the shadow option in Halo.
