My first kind of expierence with Halo was hopping on the band wagon when Halo 2 first came out. I got it for X-mas and played it from beginning till end in a few weeks time...
A month or two ago I saw the original in a store for like 15 bucks so I bought it and played the first 2 levels then left it alone and am now playing through it again and am almost done with it.
I've just noticed that my Halo playing is a skewed love/hate kind of thing. I like the games, the weapons, the enemies, the nonstop action but I find that when I start playing all I can think of is "when will this level be over?" Maybe this is just with the original or something...at least with Halo it just drives me nuts how long each level is and how a level will just look the same ALL the way through...same hallways, same rooms, same this, same that...
It's weird..it's like I really like to play it yet I actually kind of dont...maybe Microsoft put something in the games that makes ppl play, buy, and think it's a great game or something hahaha
I think there is veriety in levels, maybe not in the POA (dispit the fact that it is one of my favourite levels), but after that I think it is fairly variety-ful. What difficulty were you playing it on?
I've played both games on all the difficulties...I cant imagine that you guys have NOT noticed how repeating the level design is for each level...every hallway looks the same...every outdoor level looks the same with different rocks and trees here and there...they did a better job with Halo 2 in fixing that tho
Yeah legendary takes WAYYYYY longer to beat, cause you need to take cover a lot.True that halo 2 fixed the repeating rooms somewhat, but halo 2s storyline just seems........unfinished . Bungie probably did this on purpose to get more people hyped up for halo 3 so they can better sales.
I agree. In essence the halls are a bit samey but on legendary when the AI are a bit more challanging, you can use the scenery to your advantage, and it becomes less monotonous.
On normal and easy you don't really even need to stop running, just kill the stupid grunts along the way.
I don't think the levels were too long. The only level that I really thought "i'm bored" on is the library, which is just flood attack after flood attack after flood attack.
The only level I thought was too repetive was attack on control room cause the rooms are too reptive, except for maybe different enemies.ON legendary I am too busy watching my back for flood carriers to care much about the scenary.
I agree that a lot of the game can be very repetitive, especially on the lower difficulties where you have time to pay attention to details. Hopefully Halo 3 will vary it more.

It will, Bungies said that the scenary look amazing and their currently adding new water textures as we speak, or thats what they are SAYING......They could be screwing us around.(again)
