*Spoilers* Someone explain this to me...

Ok I got Half Life 2 for Christmas. I thought I had a snowballs chance in hell of actually getting it to run on my 1.3 ghz geforce 4 420 MX 512 mem computer. But somehow it works flawlessly. So I thanked god a million times.

I love the game. I never played the first Half Life but I think im gonna get it just for fun..its only like 20 bucks.

I paced myself and played it a little at a time, maby only 1 level every few days. THis game truly kix ass.

I just beat the game moments ago. And so im confused about the ending. This G-man, from what I can assume, is some kind of angel figure who can manipulate space and time. Well, after he comes to me in the end...and the power reactor explodes, he gives his speech, and walks out a door.

Does that mean I died in the end along with Alyx? Or is this a cliffhanger ending for a third game? (which I kno for sure I wont be able to run on this rig)...?

I just want the ending cleared up. I hate cliffhanger games. I paid for a full game...not 3/4ths...

Well, answering that would be a spoiler for you, since you're thinking about playing HL1.
I'd say play the game and then everything will become clearer to you.

So I should play Half Life 1 first?

Yes. It's like watching Star Wars. If you see "The empire strikes back", you won't get everything. Then, you watch "A new hope" and get a little bit more of the story. HL3 will be like "Return of the Jedi".

Well I wish I could play Half Life 3 but it wont be out for another 3 years and I will be off in the Marine Corps by then.

Ill look for Half Life 1.

First off, Stryker, I can tell you that Gordon did not die in the explosion at the end of Half-Life 2. I will let you in on that much. However, it would be wise to play Half-Life 1 just to clear up any confusion and gain an understanding of how and why Gordon has gotten to where he is now. The G-Man has basically found him through the first game and has been monitoring him through the second.

I kno it was due to some portal messup at Black Mesa...

Side question: should I cough up the xtra dough and get the deluxe edition of Half life with blue shift and all the extra add-ons or should I just get half life?

I dont see how Gordan could have lived thru that explosion tho...he was on top of that citadel that was thousands of stories above the ground....unless he had a parachute...

I would recommend purchasing the "Generation" pack of Half-Life including Blue-Shift and Opposing Force expansion packs. This will also enable you to play Ricochet, Team Fortress Classic and Deathmatch classic and Day of Defeat along with the tons of currently released HL1 mods of which quite a few are really decent. To complete your Steam games list, you may also wish to purchase Condition Zero which is a single player "Counter-Strike" game including AI and also a bot version of CS online. Multiplayer is also included.

Half-Life 1: Source is available to those who purchased the HL2 Steam Gold package [not retail] and Day of Defeat: Source is coming soon. Also, a 2d side scroller named Codename: Gordon is available to download. Most of these games can be downloaded straight via Steam should you have access to.

Enjoy! :)

Let's hope it isn't. Even though it brought things to an end, RoTJ wasn't that good.
